Who we are:
Greenpeace exists because this fragile earth deserves a voice. It needs solutions. It needs change. It needs action.
We are an independent, global campaigning organisation working all over the world. Our mission is to protect Earth’s ability to nurture life in all its diversity.
Our power is in collective action. Together we challenge the power of big polluters and corporate influence over civil society. We resist those who continue to use their power to trap us in polluting and destructive systems. And we work together to cause systemic change, to transform the ways we feed and fuel our world to ones that work with nature, and not against it.
Our people are our lifeblood.
Will you join us? Will you bring your Actions and Mobilisation experience to Greenpeace Aotearoa to help us achieve that mission through harnessing people-power in creative, non violent action?
What we need:
Greenpeace is looking for someone to join our team as head of our Actions and Mobilisation Unit. Leading our Actions and Mobilisation Unit, you will champion the use of strategic, effective, and innovative actions, including nonviolent direct actions (NVDA), within Greenpeace Aotearoa. You will be responsible for setting the strategic direction on the creative use of actions (including direct actions) and mobilisation to win campaigns.
You will oversee the development of actions and mobilisation staff, activist training, and the provision of investigative research and logistical support for the organisation’s activities. You will ensure that the unit is adhering to health and safety protocols, and support the wider organisation in the ongoing development and improvement of health and safety practices.
Is this you?
Long-standing experience in designing and coordinating nonviolent direct actions
Experience in managing health and safety, and legal issues relating to direct actions
Experience in effectively dealing with confrontational situations
At least two years of experience managing teams and individuals
What you’ll get in return:
The opportunity to use your strategic skills, creativity and love of people-powered action to make the world a better place
Competitive salary for the NGO sector, excellent health and wellbeing benefits, and a flexible, fun workplace. The range for this role is $95,000 - $100,000.
Hybrid work arrangement, Tuesday's and Thursday's in the Mt Eden office.
