Philanthropy Campaigns Lead
Be bold. Be creative. Be part of the fight for a green and peaceful future.
At Greenpeace Australia Pacific (GPAP), we believe a better world is possible and we’re determined to make it real. We are an independent campaigning organisation, powered by people and creative action, taking on the biggest environmental and climate challenges of our time. Our priorities are:
- tackling climate change by stopping emissions from fossil fuel extraction at source; and
- protecting nature, including our oceans and forests, by stopping the largest sources of environmental destruction like industrial fishing and deforestation.
Whatever your role at GPAP, you’ll be part of something bigger: a passionate global movement that sparks action, holds decision‑makers to account, and drives lasting change for people and the planet. This is an opportunity to use your skills, creativity, and commitment to help shape a future worth fighting for.
PHILANTHROPY CAMPAIGNS LEAD
Role: Full time, Permanent Position
Location: Sydney, Melbourne or Perth based candidates will be considered.
THE TEAM
At GPAP, we are an independent campaigning organisation that uses peaceful, creative confrontation to expose global environmental problems and drive cutting-edge solutions.
Because we never solicit or accept funds from corporations or governments, our independence is our greatest strength, but it means we rely entirely on the generosity of individuals, private trusts, and foundations.
You will be joining the dynamic Fundraising and Technology department and High Value team who are a dedicated, collaborative team of relationship fundraisers. We foster an ambitious, learning-focused culture where knowledge sharing, goal orientation, and deep trust are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we connect passionate visionaries with our urgent mission to protect the earth in all its diversity.
THE ROLE
As the Philanthropy Campaigns Lead, you will drive the project management, coordination, and execution of GPAP’s ambitious philanthropic fundraising campaigns, including our Comprehensive Campaign and its alignment with the global capital campaign.
Acting as the central coordinator across multiple internal and external stakeholders, you will ensure our major donors experience a best-practice cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship journey.
Your key responsibilities will span four core areas:
- Project Management: Lead the delivery of campaign elements, including financial planning, reporting, budget monitoring, and providing secretariat support for the Campaign Committee.
- Donor Stewardship & Frameworks: Establish an effective prospect management framework, maintaining meticulous donor records in Salesforce, and coordinating high-touch experiences like donor briefings, impact reporting, and tours of Greenpeace vessels.
- Strategy & Pipeline Development: Partner with the Leadership Team, Board, and advocates to refine prospect identification, qualification, and solicitation strategies to grow our high-value network.
- Relationship Building: Personally cultivate, negotiate, and secure significant philanthropic gifts while facilitating strategic relationships for the CEO and Head of Philanthropy.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are looking for a strategic thinker and an exceptional relationship builder who excels at converting complex campaign objectives into compelling, donor-centric narratives.
You’ll ideally also have:
- At least four (4) years of experience in relationship fundraising or major gifts, with a proven track record of moving donors through a pipeline.
- Demonstrated success in personally soliciting and securing six-figure philanthropic gifts or major donor contributions. Capital or comprehensive campaign experience is highly desirable.
- High-level understanding of the Australian, Pacific, and global philanthropic landscapes, including emerging trends, sector rules, and major networks.
- Outstanding written and oral communication skills, with extensive experience writing tailored proposals, impact reports, and briefing materials.
- Proficiency in CRM platforms (specifically Salesforce) and the Google Workspace suite.
Above all, you hold a global mindset aligned with our core values of peace, planetary integrity, and systemic change. You are ready to champion our strict code of conduct and act as a proud, compliant ambassador for the planet.
We recognise that sometimes the right person for a job is based on personal qualities and not just qualifications. If you are not sure whether you are qualified, we would strongly encourage you to make an inquiry or go ahead and apply.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU
- Be part of a globally respected brand: Work with one of the most influential names in the environmental NGO space, backed by five decades of courageous campaigning.
- Work-life balance you can rely on: A 35-hour work week, supported by GPAP’s integrity framework, plus generous leave options (including an additional week of paid leave between Christmas and New Year).
