RELATIONSHIP SPECIALIST (GIFTS IN WILLS)

Role: Full time, Permanent Position

Location: Sydney or Melbourne based, working hybrid out of either the head office in Rosebery or office in North Melbourne.

THE TEAM

The Relationship Specialist (Gifts in Wills), sits within our High Value Fundraising team, working on our Gifts in Wills program. The High Value team works with existing and new supporters who can give significantly and help us grow our impact. As Greenpeace campaigns are 100% funded by individual supporters, it is vital that we grow our base of supporters and donors so that we can remain fiercely independent as we fight together for our fragile planet and the magnificent diversity of life that call it home.

Our team facilitates key streams of financial support to fund high-impact campaigns that provide a voice for this fragile planet. Greenpeace is and always will be independent which means that we never accept any money from any government, business or political party.

The Gifts in Wills program focuses on encouraging loyal supporters to leave a charitable gift in their will to Greenpeace. We do this by providing warm, informed and inspirational interactions with them. The program also focuses on acquiring new supporters and inspiring the public to learn more about this form of giving, through a diverse range of activities and channels.

THE ROLE

We are seeking a deeply empathetic, strategic, and highly organised Relationship Specialist to champion our Gifts in Wills program. In this role, you will be the primary custodian of our relationships with our "Green Guardians", the incredible, dedicated supporters who have chosen to leave a legacy gift to Greenpeace.

Because legacy gifts are often pledged years before they are realised, your primary mission is donor retention through meaningful, highly personalised stewardship. You will design and deliver tailored experiences, events, and communications that ensure our Green Guardians feel deeply valued, informed, and connected to our lifelong mission.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and execute tailored stewardship plans, host exclusive in-person and digital donor appreciation events, and manage the Green Guardian online hub and newsletter. You will build deep, personal connections with confirmed pledgers via face-to-face visits, calls, and impact reporting.
  • Partner closely with our Major Donor, Mid-Value, Legal, and Campaign teams to build integrated donor journeys and source compelling, frontline stories that reinforce the value of a legacy gift.
  • Facilitate our estate management process in tandem with our external partner, Bequest Assist. You will track estates, manage forecasting, process receipts, and coordinate closely with legal professionals when required.
  • Maintain impeccable, highly detailed records within our CRM (Salesforce) to ensure donor motivations, preferences, and touchpoints are seamlessly tracked for personalised engagement.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

To be successful in this role, you will need a unique blend of strategic thinking, administrative excellence, and profound emotional intelligence. You have an innate ability to practice active listening, uncover donor motivations, and build authentic rapport with people from all walks of life. Along with top-tier copywriting and verbal presentation skills to create moving impact reports and facilitate donor events.

You’ll ideally also have:

  • At least 3 years of experience in a high-touch relationship fundraising role (Gifts in Wills, Mid-Value, Major Gifts, or corporate Account Management).
  • Advanced understanding of donor retention, "moves management," and the Australian philanthropic landscape.
  • Experience using data segmentation to prioritise outreach within a large portfolio of donors.
  • Expert proficiency with Salesforce (or a similar major CRM) to manage pipelines and generate performance insights.
  • Highly organised and capable of managing a portfolio of 200+ donors without losing the essential personal touch.

We recognise that sometimes the right person for a job is based on personal qualities and not just qualifications. If you are not sure whether you are qualified, we would strongly encourage you to make an inquiry or go ahead and apply.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • Be part of a globally respected brand: Work with one of the most influential names in the environmental NGO space, backed by five decades of courageous campaigning.
  • Work-life balance you can rely on: A 35-hour work week, supported by GPAP’s integrity framework, plus generous leave options (including an additional week of paid leave between Christmas and New Year).
