Senior Campaigner
Be bold. Be creative. Be part of the fight for a green and peaceful future.
At Greenpeace Australia Pacific (GPAP), we believe a better world is possible and we’re determined to make it real. We are an independent campaigning organisation, powered by people and creative action, taking on the biggest environmental and climate challenges of our time. Our priorities are:
- tackling climate change by stopping emissions from fossil fuel extraction at source; and
- protecting nature, including our oceans and forests, by stopping the largest sources of environmental destruction like industrial fishing and deforestation.
Whatever your role at GPAP, you’ll be part of something bigger: a passionate global movement that sparks action, holds decision‑makers to account, and drives lasting change for people and the planet. This is an opportunity to use your skills, creativity, and commitment to help shape a future worth fighting for.
SENIOR CAMPAIGNER
Role: Full time, 12 month Fixed Term Contract
Location: Ideally based in Perth, Australia - Hybrid working in the Perth office; open to considering strong candidates elsewhere in Australia
THE TEAM
The Campaign Team is responsible for fighting for strong climate action and nature protection. Whether it’s preventing huge new gas mines, taking the fight of the Pacific to the world’s biggest stages, or advocating for solutions to replace harmful forms of economic activity, you’ll be working on campaigns we believe will make the world safer and more just.
Our Campaigning Team is divided up into 3 core streams. These include Climate and Energy, Nature and Pacific. We are looking for someone to join our Nature team, reporting to our Head of Nature, to help leverage Greenpeace’s power to influence and inspire decision-makers to shift in a way that aligns with the speed necessary to solve the world’s most pressing problems.
THE ROLE
In this pivotal role, you’ll design, coordinate, and deliver high-impact campaigns aligned with our work both domestically and internationally. This role will be primarily focussed on saving Scott Reef in WA from Woodside’s dirty gas plans, with other supporting work with the Nature team as required.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the development and implementation of ambitious campaign strategies that deliver meaningful change - in this case Greenpeace’s flagship Save Scott Reef campaign.
- Build and nurture relationships with allies, policymakers, and the media to amplify GPAP’s impact.
- Manage and mentor campaign staff and collaborators, fostering a culture of innovation and learning.
- Guide compelling storytelling and content creation that inspires action.
- Ensure campaign transparency, solid research foundations, and alignment with Greenpeace’s global goals.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
We are looking for someone who brings creativity, agility, and leadership to every stage of campaign planning and execution. From strategy and stakeholder engagement to content creation and media representation.
You’ll be a passionate, strategic campaigner driven to protect the planet. You have a strong understanding of power dynamics from political, corporate, and social and know how to leverage them for change. You thrive in fast-moving, high-stakes environments and can bring diverse teams together around ambitious goals.
You’ll ideally also have:
- At least 5 years’ experience in campaigning, advocacy, or a related field.
- Proven success in developing and leading winning strategies.
- Exceptional communication skills, including media engagement and content creation.
- Experience managing people and projects in changing circumstances.
- Understanding of ocean policy and environmental issues (highly desirable).
- A collaborative mindset, integrity, and an unshakeable commitment to Greenpeace’s vision of a green and peaceful future.
We recognise that sometimes the right person for a job is based on personal qualities and not just qualifications. If you are not sure whether you are qualified, we would strongly encourage you to make an inquiry or go ahead and apply.
