Be bold. Be creative. Be part of the fight for a green and peaceful future.

At Greenpeace Australia Pacific (GPAP), we believe a better world is possible and we’re determined to make it real. We are an independent campaigning organisation, powered by people and creative action, taking on the biggest environmental and climate challenges of our time. Our priorities are:

  • tackling climate change by stopping emissions from fossil fuel extraction at source; and
  • protecting nature, including our oceans and forests, by stopping the largest sources of environmental destruction like industrial fishing and deforestation.

Whatever your role at GPAP, you’ll be part of something bigger: a passionate global movement that sparks action, holds decision‑makers to account, and drives lasting change for people and the planet. This is an opportunity to use your skills, creativity, and commitment to help shape a future worth fighting for.

SENIOR MAJOR GIFTS MANAGER

Role: Full time, Permanent Position

Location: Melbourne based, working hybrid out of our North Melbourne office. Strong Sydney based candidates may be considered.

THE TEAM

At GPAP, we are an independent campaigning organisation that uses peaceful, creative confrontation to expose global environmental problems and drive cutting-edge solutions.

Because we never solicit or accept funds from corporations or governments, our independence is our greatest strength, but it means we rely entirely on the generosity of individuals, private trusts, and foundations.

You will be joining the dynamic Fundraising and Technology department, leading a dedicated, collaborative team of relationship fundraisers. We foster an ambitious, learning-focused culture where knowledge sharing, goal orientation, and deep trust are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we connect passionate visionaries with our urgent mission to protect the earth in all its diversity.

THE ROLE

As the Senior Major Gifts Manager, you will play a pivotal role in securing the long-term financial sustainability and impact of Greenpeace's mission. This is a high-profile leadership position responsible for shaping and delivering GPAP’s major giving strategy and driving high-value income targets.

Your key responsibilities will span four core areas:

  • Team Leadership: Guide, mentor, and cultivate a high-performing, metric-focused major gifts team. You will optimise workloads, oversee budgets, and integrate work across departments to build an ambitious fundraising culture.
  • Strategic Growth: Partner with the Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships to design and implement an ambitious major gifts strategy, using advanced donor journeys and creative touchpoints. You will continuously refine strategies to convert prospects into committed, long-term partners.
  • Donor and Relationship Management: Personally manage a high-value portfolio of existing and prospective major donors. You will also provide high-level strategic support to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), managing the interface with the Office of the CEO for major gift solicitations and meetings.
  • Program and Event Oversight: Coordinate a comprehensive calendar of bespoke experiences, field trips, and tailored communications, while managing donor pipeline integrity via Salesforce.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for an inspiring, strategy-driven leader with a sophisticated understanding of the Australian and global philanthropic landscape. You know how to take donors on a meaningful journey and translate complex environmental campaigns into compelling, 6-figure funding opportunities.

You’ll ideally also have:

  • At least 5 years of experience in relationship fundraising, with a demonstrated history of personally securing 6-figure major gifts and managing a dynamic donor pipeline.
  • A minimum of 3 years leading and developing high-performing, multidisciplinary teams.
  • Advanced influencing, negotiation, and writing skills, with the ability to build immediate trust across diverse cultures, internal campaign teams, and high-net-worth networks.
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred) and Google/Microsoft suites, alongside a solid grasp of impact-measurement and reporting frameworks for philanthropy.
  • Prior experience working on a capital or comprehensive fundraising campaign is highly regarded.

Above all, you hold a global mindset aligned with our core values of peace, planetary integrity, and systemic change. You are ready to champion our strict code of conduct and act as a proud, compliant ambassador for the planet.

We recognise that sometimes the right person for a job is based on personal qualities and not just qualifications. If you are not sure whether you are qualified, we would strongly encourage you to make an inquiry or go ahead and apply.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU

  • Be part of a globally respected brand: Work with one of the most influential names in the environmental NGO space, backed by five decades of courageous campaigning.
  • Work-life balance you can rely on: A 35-hour work week, supported by GPAP’s integrity framework, plus generous leave options (including an additional week of paid leave between Christmas and New Year).
  • Workplace designed for impact: Enjoy our purpose-built head office in Rosebery, Sydney, or our shared working space in North Melbourne - spaces created to foster collaboration and creativity.
  • A culture of belonging: Join a team that truly celebrates inclusivity, diversity, and a sense of community.
  • Support for your wellbeing: Access an annual health and wellness allowance to help you thrive both inside and outside of work.

Annual full-time salary: $139,438.31 per annum plus 12% superannuation.
