About Greenline Insights
Greenline Insights is a non-partisan, analytically driven research firm empowering smart decision-making in climate, energy, and public policy. We specialize in modeling, analysis, and policy design to help local workforces, businesses, and communities thrive. Our interdisciplinary work spans economics, energy, public health, infrastructure, industry, and innovation — and is rooted in clarity, rigor, and action. We pride ourselves on translating complex research into policy-relevant insights that drive real-world impact, from detailed reports and testimony to stakeholder engagement and modeling tools.
Our Values
We value curiosity, intellectual rigor, and mission-driven care. As a research-focused team, we believe clarity — in thinking, methods, and communication — is essential for impactful work.
We look for teammates who bring good energy, analytical grit, and a commitment to problem-solving. We thrive with colleagues who enjoy tackling complexity, asking sharp questions, building structure where none exists, and working collaboratively to generate high-quality, actionable research.
Role Summary
We’re seeking an ambitious, energetic Research Analyst to help drive a wide range of climate, energy, and economic policy research. The ideal candidate is excited by analytical challenges, comfortable working with complex datasets, and eager to translate quantitative findings into clear, actionable policy insights.
As a core member of our research team, you’ll gather, interpret, and analyze data; support modeling efforts across multiple projects; and help shape the evidence base behind high-impact policy decisions. You’ll be joining at a pivotal moment — Greenline Insights is growing quickly, and your work will directly expand our research capacity, sharpen our modeling, and increase our impact.
This role is an opportunity to build deep expertise at the intersection of energy systems, economics, and public policy. As the company scales, there will be meaningful opportunities for increased responsibility, leadership, and ownership of research domains.
Core Responsibilities
Data & Research
Identify, collect, clean, and structure key datasets to support energy, economic, and policy modeling.
Conduct literature reviews and background research to inform modeling assumptions and project design.
Develop clear, repeatable workflows for data processing and documentation.
Modeling & Analysis
Run and support energy policy, economic impact, and emissions modeling tools.
Analyze and interpret complex data to uncover trends, quantify impacts, and inform policy insights.
Translate modeling outputs into structured findings that support messaging, recommendations, and decision-making.
Contribute to the development and refinement of internal models, tools, and analytical systems.
Writing & Communication
Draft and contribute to reports, memos, policy briefs, presentations, and technical appendices.
Summarize technical results in clear, compelling language tailored to policymakers, advocates, and other stakeholders.
Create charts, figures, and visual summaries to communicate analytical findings.
What We’re Looking For
Must-Have Qualities
A graduate degree or 2–4 years of equivalent professional experience in energy, climate, economics, public policy, or a related analytical field.
Experience working with energy, climate, economic, or environmental datasets — including data cleaning, synthesis, and interpretation.
Strong analytical skills and comfort with quantitative modeling, scenario analysis, or impact assessment.
Clear, concise writing and communication skills; ability to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences.
Curiosity and intellectual grit — you enjoy digging into complex questions, solving problems, and navigating ambiguity.
A self-starter who is comfortable managing tasks independently while collaborating closely in a small, high-trust team.
Enthusiasm for learning new methods, adapting to new tools, and growing into project leadership over time.
Exceptional attention to detail, with the ability to spot data inconsistencies, validate assumptions, and ensure accuracy across datasets, modeling outputs, and written deliverables.
Commitment to Greenline Insight’s mission and interest in long-term growth with the company.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Python or another similar programming language for data analysis or modeling.
Familiarity with energy/economic modeling platforms, including but not limited to IMPLAN, REMI, system dynamics modeling tools (e.g., Vensim), Energy Policy Simulator, or other economic/energy modeling platforms.
Experience building data visualizations or communicating quantitative results through charts and figures.
Background in climate, clean energy, economic modeling, or policy analysis.
