About the role
Green Sky is seeking a fully qualified Lead Verifier to conduct third-party verifications of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions reports and offset project reports. This is a remote position, with all desktop and coordination work performed online. However, occasional travel within Canada will be required to conduct site visits. Candidates must be based primarily in Canada, preferably in British Columbia or Alberta, to facilitate travel to client sites.
Some of the programs under which the candidate is expected to conduct verifications include, but are not limited to:
- Alberta’s Technology and Innovation Emission Reduction (TIER), including the Alberta Carbon Offset Registry
- British Columbia Greenhouse Gas Emission Reporting Regulation (GGERR), including the Output-Based Pricing System (BC OBPS)
- Saskatchewan’s Output-Based Performance Standards Program (SK OBPS)
- Canada’s Clean Fuels Regulation (CFR)
- Canada’s Output-Based Pricing System (OBPS)
- Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) under Verra
What you will do
In this role, you will conduct technical tasks related to GHG Verification and Validation activities, including, but not limited to:
- Develop verification and validation plans for GHG verifications
- Design and implement risk-based sampling strategies
- Ensure accuracy of data against the relevant regulations
- Perform calculations and compile GHG verification findings logs
- Analyze data, conduct research, and prepare technical reports
- Participate in fieldwork, including GHG verification site visits and facility inspections
- Provide education and guidance to clients on verification processes
- Train junior staff on GHG Verifications/Validations while they provide support on verification projects
- Work with carbon markets and reporting programs.
Your qualifications and experience

- Have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a Lead GHG verifier
- Have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field
- Have completed an ISO 14064-3:2019 course from a reputable education provider
- Have completed or are willing to complete the Alberta Environment and Protected Areas (AEPA) Verification Training for TIER
- Have completed or are willing to complete the CFR Verification Training
- Can perform complex calculations, data analysis, and prepare technical reports
- Have excellent time, client, and project management, and are able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Are proficient with the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Have a valid driver’s licence with a driving record in good standing

Pay Range
$120,000.00 - $140,000.00
