Summary

The Director, HETI, is responsible for contributing meaningfully to the success of the Partnership’s initiative to leverage Houston’s energy leadership to accelerate global solutions that meet the dual challenge of producing more energy that the world demands while lowering emissions. This will be accomplished by working with a coalition of industry, academia and community partners to ensure the long-term economic competitiveness and advancement of Houston in a rapidly evolving energy landscape. The Director will work closely and collaboratively with the HETI team and other Partnership divisions to execute on the initiative’s mission. The Director will be responsible for managing key relationships and projects in HETI’s areas of focus, including efforts related to capital formation, innovation and technology commercialization, power and carbon management.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

The following responsibilities are essential to job performance:

Project Management: Work with the SVP, Energy and Executive Director, HETI, to create the associated action plans for supporting HETI’s and the Partnership’s priorities and strategies, with accountabilities and timelines, and coordinate execution across the Partnership.

Subject Matter Expertise: Provide support to and lead when called upon HETI’s Capital Formation Committee and efforts in Technology Commercialization and Innovation. Provide support to other HETI areas of focus, including member engagement, power management, and carbon management.

Ecosystem Partnerships: Create and maintain strong working relationships across the multitude of energy transition-related initiatives and organizations in Houston and beyond to leverage, coordinate and connect individual actions for greater impact. Impact Measurement: Develop metrics to gauge both short-term and long-term success of the initiative.

Collaborate With All Divisions Within The Partnership To Advance HETI Within Their Work, The Initiative’s Work, And How They Impact The Houston Region. This Includes, But Is Not Limited To

Member Engagement: identify and support avenues for member engagement in HETI and overall energy-related activities

Economic Development: identify and act on opportunities for developing value chains to solidify Houston’s current and future global energy leadership

Marketing and Communications: develop and amplify messaging that advances Houston and HETI’s efforts to be seen and understood as a leader in meeting the dual challenge of producing more energy with lower emissions.

Research: produce data and analyses that builds broader understanding on Houston’s progress in addressing the dual challenge

  • Contribute as an internal subject matter expert on energy transition.
  • Represent HETI and the Partnership as needed at relevant functions, seminars, conferences, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of energy systems, energy transition pathways, barriers and solutions to project development, climate tech and innovation.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with HETI member companies, Advisory Board Members, ecosystem partners, leadership, and all Partnership staff.

Education And Experience Requirements

  • 5 or more years consulting, strategy development, finance, or execution and program management experience.
  • Understanding of energy industry, energy transition, sustainability and finance.
  • Experience working in multi-stakeholder organizations.
  • Demonstrated success in driving consensus and delivering complex multi-party projects.
