Job Overview

The Deputy Director of Project Acquisition Finance will lead the evaluation, structuring, and execution of acquisitions and investments in utility-scale solar PV and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. This role spans investment, development, construction, and operations, with oversight of power marketing strategies and long-term asset performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end acquisition and investment processes
  • Build and manage project finance models and valuation analyses
  • Structure equity, debt, and tax equity transactions
  • Oversee power marketing strategy (PPAs, tolling, merchant revenues)
  • Evaluate development pipeline risks (permitting, interconnection, site control)
  • Collaborate on construction execution (EPC contracts, budgets, schedules)
  • Lead financing processes with lenders and investors
  • Monitor portfolio performance and optimize asset value

Power Marketing Oversight

  • Structure and negotiate PPAs and tolling agreements
  • Evaluate merchant exposure and ancillary service revenues
  • Develop hedging and revenue optimization strategies
  • Monitor regulatory and market developments

Construction & Development Oversight

  • Assess EPC contracts and construction risks
  • Track project milestones (NTP, COD)
  • Evaluate supply chain and execution risks
  • Support development strategy and pipeline prioritization

Required Qualifications

  • 10–15+ years in renewable energy or infrastructure finance
  • Proven experience in solar and/or BESS transactions
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills
  • Deep understanding of energy markets and revenue models
  • Experience with project finance and capital structuring

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA, CFA, or equivalent
  • Experience in U.S. power markets (CAISO, ERCOT, PJM) and South America (Chile, Argentina, Brazil)
  • Background in IPP, developer, or infrastructure fund
  • Chinese language proficiency desirable, but not required.
