Faculty Overview
As Canada’s only polytechnic university, Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) is the fourth largest university in the province of British Columbia and serves communities in the South Fraser region and beyond. Within KPU, the Faculty of Science has over 1,500 full-time students and over 200 faculty members and instructors from across the natural and applied sciences. The Faculty of Science offers experiential learning through hands-on curriculum and co-ops and research collaboration opportunities with KPU’s Institute for Sustainable Horticulture (ISH), Institute of Sustainable Food Systems (ISFS), and Applied Genomics Center (AGC). As well, our faculty is home to over a hectare of horticulture field lab and working farm and a state-of-the art brewery, which has been recognized internationally and locally, winning BC Brewery of the Year in 2019. Position Overview
Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Department of Sustainable Agriculture, is currently seeking regular or NR2 faculty to teach in the areas of Soil science, Business and Economics, Agroecology, Animal Agriculture. These courses are part of the Bachelor of Applied Science in Sustainable Agriculture. Successful candidates will be responsible for covering the relevant topics in the context of sustainable agriculture and food systems and should include expertise in sustainable production systems and agroecology. The successful candidates will work with the Department faculty in the development and delivery of these courses and support with content will be provided.
The Sustainable Agriculture degree program at KPU provides students with a unique learning experience designed in recognition of the need for both practical and academic training that addresses the pressing issues in our food system such as climate change and social justice in addition to the production of food. Students are immersed in a setting which fosters experiential learning through classroom, lab and field-based research and teaching. Graduates of the program will be equipped with expertise and skills in food production, policy and business needed to provide leadership in addressing issues around the development of sustainable agri-food systems.

Qualifications
The successful applicant will lecture and converse fluently in English, and possess at a minimum, a Master’s degree (PhD in related field is preferred) and demonstrated record of teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
