About Us

The Gaia Project helps youth drive climate action through hands-on education in K-12 New Brunswick schools. We teach students about climate change, energy, waste, and environmental solutions—reaching over 250 schools each year.

As a New Brunswick-based charity, we offer free experiential programs that build skills and inspire meaningful action. With a bilingual team and strong provincial partnerships, we’re shaping a sustainable future.

About The Role

We are looking for a curious and motivated communicator to support our fundraising and partnership efforts. You will work closely with the Executive Director and Program Director to research funding opportunities, write compelling proposals, and help maintain strong relationships with our partners. If you’re a strong writer who cares about the planet and wants to learn how nonprofit fundraising actually works, this role is for you.

This is a great opportunity for someone who loves to write, stays organized, and wants to grow into a fundraising or nonprofit leadership role over time. You’ll get direct exposure to the strategies and behind-the-scenes work that make climate education possible—and you’ll help us reach more students across the province.

You won’t be expected to have it all figured out on day one. We’ll provide support and coaching as you build your skills in grant writing, sponsorships, and nonprofit communications. No two days will look exactly the same—this role is dynamic, creative, and rooted in real-world impact.

What You'll Do

  • Draft and support grant applications, sponsorship proposals, and donor updates
  • Research new funding opportunities (government, foundation, and corporate)
  • Coordinate sponsorship outreach for education conferences and youth events
  • Prepare partnership materials, letters, and briefing notes
  • Maintain tracking systems for grants, partners, and reporting deadlines
  • Assist with budgets, data collection, and reporting requirements
  • Help us tell our story and grow our impact through thoughtful, strategic writing

You’re a Great Fit If You

  • Love writing and can express ideas clearly and persuasively
  • Are detail-oriented, organized, and good at following through
  • Enjoy research and aren’t afraid to dive into unfamiliar topics
  • Are fluent in English and comfortable reading and understanding French
  • Care deeply about climate action, youth, and community impact
  • Connect with our core values: Inclusion, Innovation and Collaboration
  • Want to grow your career in nonprofit work, communications, or fundraising

Bonus (But Not Required)

  • Experience writing grant proposals or other persuasive writing
  • Background in fundraising, marketing, communications, or admin
  • Knowledge of the nonprofit, education, or environmental sectors
