Gold Standard Foundation is seeking a talented Officer, Oversight to join our Accreditation Oversight Management team. This pivotal role is ideal for someone who thrives on detail, enjoys coordinating complex processes, and wants to help set the benchmark for quality and compliance in the global carbon market.
As Officer, Oversight, you will be at the heart of our assurance process, supporting the approval and management of independent auditing organisations (Validation and Verification Bodies – VVBs) and auditors who certify climate projects. You’ll play a crucial part in maintaining the high standards that enable projects to access carbon finance and contribute meaningfully to the Sustainable Development Goals. Today, our standard, ‘Gold Standard for the Global Goals’, allows climate and development initiatives within carbon markets, corporate supply chains, and sustainable finance to manage, measure and maximise their impacts toward the Net Zero ambition of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Review applications for (re-)approval of Validation/Verification Bodies (VVBs), providing feedback and ensuring compliance with Gold Standard requirements.
- Coordinate the VVB approval process between internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage the auditor approval process, including account creation, score follow-up, and updating auditor information on internal systems and the Gold Standard website.
- Draft, implement, and report on internal standard operating procedures.
- Support the creation of training materials and exams/quizzes for auditors and VVBs.
- Draft information materials, newsletters, helpdesk responses, and guidance documents.
- Support alignment of the assurance system with internal and external standards (ISEAL, ICVCM, Corsia, Article 6, etc.) and assist with reporting.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Degree and 2 years minimum of professional experience (ideally in quality management systems, audit processes, or sustainability standards).
- Experience in assessing compliance against standards (preferably ISO).
- Strong organizational, communication, and client-centred skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and familiarity with online project/process management systems.
- Ability to learn rapidly, adapt to new information, and find innovative solutions to complex problems.
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders globally
