Gold Standard is seeking an entrepreneurial Head of Resource Mobilisation to architect and launch our foundation-first fundraising function from the ground up. Today, our standard, ‘Gold Standard for the Global Goals’, allows climate and development initiatives within carbon markets, corporate supply chains, and sustainable finance to manage, measure and maximise their impacts toward the Net Zero ambition of the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Build the function: Design and implement a 12–24 month roadmap to establish a modern, scalable resource mobilisation function, with a primary focus on philanthropic organisations and foundations.
- Stand up core systems: Define pipeline stages, implement CRM discipline, institute forecasting and portfolio reviews, and embed clear handovers with Market Development and Corporate Engagement.
- Foundation-first portfolio: Lead a foundation-first strategy identifying, cultivating, and stewarding relationships with major philanthropic foundations and trusts, while laying the groundwork for future government and multilateral opportunities.
- Compelling cases & proposals: Shape compelling cases for support and oversee high-quality funding proposals tailored to the interests and priorities of leading foundations, convening cross-functional contributors (technical, finance, communications).
- Market positioning: Increase visibility with the right philanthropic audiences, co-creating partnerships and positioning Gold Standard at influential forums (e.g., Skoll World Forum, London Climate Action Week, New York Climate Week).
- Readiness for procurement: Strengthen compliance, due diligence and contracting readiness f with Finance, Legal and Operations.
- Build capability: Coach, mentor and, where required, recruit specialist capacity; foster a culture of accountability, data quality and continuous improvement.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- Expert fundraiser: You have a proven track record of securing significant, multi-year funding partnerships with leading philanthropic foundations, trusts, and major grant-making organisations.
- Foundation-first strategist: You are adept at designing and executing fundraising strategies that prioritise engagement with philanthropic organisations and foundations, building trust-based relationships and delivering compelling cases for support.
- Relationship builder: You excel at identifying, cultivating, and stewarding high-value partnerships with foundation and trust decision-makers, leveraging sector networks and positioning Gold Standard as a partner of choice.
- Proposal leader: You have hands-on experience developing and assuring high-quality funding proposals tailored to the interests and priorities of philanthropic organisations and foundations.
- Influencer & integrator: You are skilled at stakeholder influence and cross-functional leadership, collaborating across technical, finance, and delivery teams to maximise fundraising impact.
- Data-driven operator: You are an expert user of CRM and pipeline management, with a strong focus on data quality, forecasting accuracy, and reporting to foundation partners.
- Compliance aware: You understand the compliance, due diligence, and reporting requirements of philanthropic organisations and are ready to raise the organisational bar for readiness.
