The Global Strategic Communications Council (GSCC) is a global network of communications professionals working on climate, energy, and nature. GSCC is a programme hosted by the Meliore Foundation. We are looking for a highly organised and energetic intern who is keen to develop their media relations skills, to join the Food and Nature team.

Despite food systems driving more than a quarter of global emissions and nature offering over 30% of the climate solution, both remain largely overlooked in media and political discourse. You’ll be joining a team that works closely with NGOs, academics, family farmers and Indigenous Peoples around the world to generate stories connecting food systems, nature, and climate. How you'll contribute

As an Intern, you will support the team’s efforts to drive and shape media narratives through a variety of tasks, supporting the team's media work, and on team coordination tasks. Your main tasks will include:

  • Media monitoring and evaluation: Supporting the tracking, analysing and reporting on relevant media coverage on our key campaigns.
  • Supporting managing media lists: Researching and maintaining updated contact lists of journalists, media outlets in the climate, food, and nature space.
  • Distributing our newsletter: supporting the final editing, uploading and distribution of our monthly newsletter.
  • Supporting press briefings and events: Assisting with logistics, scheduling, and follow-ups for press events and media engagements.
  • Managing the team editorial calendar: supporting the media pitching working group in the team to keep track of outputs, deadlines and key journalists being engaged.
  • Cross-team support: working closely with the Associate for Food and Nature to provide additional support on administrative tasks on team coordination such as collating and sending our weekly outlook, action points from team meetings etc.
  • Drafting communications: Support with drafting communications materials such as social media copy.
  • Any other duties to be assigned from time to time

Our ideal candidate has

  • A strong interest in media, journalism, and communications, with a focus on environmental, food, and climate issues.
  • Excellent research skills, with an ability to summarise findings concisely and a willingness to learn how to pull out crucial trends and information
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong organisational skills and a proactive, detail-oriented approach, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • A fast learner with a keen interest in digital platforms and tools. Experience with databases, tracking tools, and digital communication platforms is a plus but not essential.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; additional languages are an asset, especially Portuguese
