Job Description:

As a LabVIEW Engineer at Clarios, you will develop, implement, and maintain test systems and automation using LabVIEW, for battery / energy storage systems (or related automotive/battery management). You’ll work with multi‑disciplinary teams (electrical, mechanical, software, test, systems) to ensure product quality, reliability, safety, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain automated test systems and rigs using LabVIEW (National Instruments) for hardware such as battery modules, battery management systems (BMS), power electronics, or related components.
  • Develop test procedures, test scripts, and automation code to execute functional, performance, environmental, durability, or safety tests.
  • Integrate test systems with data acquisition (DAQ) hardware, sensors, relays, power supplies, thermal chambers, etc.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and calibrate hardware and software in test setups.
  • Maintain and document all test systems: software design, hardware interface, calibration, version control.
  • Analyze test results, log defects, provide feedback to design teams, and assist in root-cause analysis when tests fail.
  • Work with systems / test validation teams to define test plans, validation protocols, and verification documentation.
  • Ensure tests and systems comply with regulatory, safety, and automotive OEM requirements.
  • Assist R&D and production teams in validating new designs and design changes.
  • Continuously improve the automation framework, improve test coverage, reduce test times, increase reliability.

Qualifications / Skills Required

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: Probably 3‑7+ years working in test engineering or automation. Prior experience with LabVIEW is essential.
  • Strong programming / scripting skills (LabVIEW, possibly others: Python, C, etc.).
  • Familiarity with hardware interfacing: DAQ cards, signal conditioning, sensors, relays, etc.
  • Understanding of test instrumentation: oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, environmental chambers.
  • Ability to read electrical/mechanical schematics; understanding of controls, measurement, signal types.
  • Good debugging & problem solving skills.
  • Experience in test documentation, version control, quality systems.
  • Experience in automotive or battery / energy storage industry a plus.

Desired / Nice‑to‑Have Skills

  • Experience with LabVIEW automated test systems in automotive / battery / energy storage systems.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g. safety, EMC) or OEM test standards.
  • Familiarity with Battery Management Systems (BMS) and associated hardware.
  • Experience with data acquisition & logging, database + data analytics of test data.
  • Experience integrating mechanical and environmental aspects (temperature cycling, vibration, etc.).
  • Ability to work cross‑functionally (mechanical, electrical, software).

Working Environment / Context

  • On‑site (Milwaukee, WI) work, likely in labs / test facility.
  • Collaborate with R&D, product validation, manufacturing, quality assurance.
