About The Role

Gleeds is working on a major UK infrastructure programme and is looking to appoint a Senior Cost Engineer to join a well established and high performing project controls team.

This role offers the opportunity to step into a senior position within a complex, multi-contract environment, where you’ll play a key part in managing and controlling costs across a large scale portfolio of work. The programme spans a diverse range of packages, from smaller works through to contracts valued in the hundreds of millions, all contributing to a wider multi-billion-pound delivery.

You’ll be joining a collaborative and forward-thinking team, with a strong emphasis on cost intelligence, digital capability, and consistent reporting across stakeholders.

Your day to day could sometimes involve:

  • Managing cost planning and control across a portfolio of infrastructure contract
  • Supporting the transition from estimate through to procurement, ensuring budget alignment and cost certainty.
  • Reviewing and managing programme budgets, tracking against forecast spend
  • Supporting supply chain engagement, including review of quotations and cost benchmarking
  • Producing and maintaining clear, consistent cost reporting across multiple stakeholders
  • Working closely with engineering, commercial, and project teams to drive cost accuracy
  • Providing structured upward reporting to senior stakeholders and leadership teams
  • Supporting the development and mentoring of junior team members, particularly within digital cost intelligence
  • Ensuring consistency of messaging and data across a complex, multi-disciplinary environment
  • What we are looking for in applications
  • Strong experience within major infrastructure, energy, or complex capital programmes
  • Proven expertise in cost forecasting, budgeting, and procurement support
  • Experience working across multiple stakeholders and disciplines, with the ability to influence and communicate effectively
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex cost data into clear insights
  • Experience operating at a senior level, supporting both delivery teams and leadership
  • Exposure to digital cost tools and reporting platforms (e.g. Power BI, SQL) would be advantageous
  • A collaborative mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and best practice
  • Ideally HNC, HND or Degree qualified in a Quantity Surveying / Cost Management, Construction Law, or similar / relevant discipline, or in some case applicants with an alternative background (e.g.: Engineering) may be considered if there is significant on the job experience.
  • Professional qualifications and/or membership of the RICS, CIOB, CICES, CIPS or other relevant Chartered Institute are desirable, and will be supported if not already attained.
