Job Title:  Solar Quality Control Manager
Location: Valley Mills, TX
Job Type: Non-Exempt
Reports To: Project Quality Manager

Position Summary:

The Quality Control Manager plans, coordinates, and directs quality program designed to ensure quality control and quality assurance of the production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Formulates and maintains quality objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
  • Interprets quality philosophy to key personnel in organization.
  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation
  • Plans and oversees the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.
  • Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
  • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
  • Decides whether to accept a product or continue business with a vendor based on a review by the quality assurance engineer.
  • Reviews all data obtained during all quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures.
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities.
  • Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to the management team.
  • Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards.
  • Plays active role on quality management teams within organization.
  • Designs and implements quality training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers
  • Investigates and adjusts customer complaints regarding quality

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Quality Assurance roles, with at least 2 years in solar EPC or renewable energy projects.

Work Environment:

  • This position requires a combination of office and fieldwork at active construction and industrial project sites.
  • While on-site, the employee may be exposed to varying weather conditions, outdoor environments, noise, dust, and active heavy equipment.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, vests, and steel-toe boots are required in designated areas.
  • Office-based work may involve extended periods of sitting, computer use, and virtual meetings with project teams and clients
  • Prolonged sitting or standing for long periods of time.
  • Extensive use of a computer terminal
  • Travel required
  • Heavy physical effort required including pulling and lifting or moving heavy weight material with frequent lifting and/or moving of materials or equipment (over 50 pounds).
  • Requires the ability to continuously work around any or all of the following: noise, dust, heat, cold, solvents, fumes and heavy equipment
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and/or evenings as necessary (based on project demands)

  • Conducts walk-throughs of construction sites.
  • Requires constant standing, sitting, bending, crouching, walking, pulling, pushing, reaching, kneeling
  • Requires frequently working in confined spaces.
  • Requires working at all heights
  • Requires climbing up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects
