Position Summary:
The Contracts & Subcontracts Category Manager plays a key role in managing client contracts and subcontract agreements in support of GIS’s procurement and supply chain strategies. This role is responsible for executing contract-focused category strategies, supporting negotiations, and identifying and mitigating commercial risk across projects. Working cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Legal, Project Controls, and Project Teams, the Category Manager supports contract lifecycle management from award through closeout, including contract risk assessments and project kickoff activities. The position also leverages subcontract spend to maximize negotiated pricing and supports the execution of GIS’s PSCM POD strategy and contract review framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support development of Commercial Risk guideline to aid in initial contract review.
- Support development of Contract Cheat Sheet for executed contracts, identifying critical items in the contract.
- Identify commercial contract risks,
- Finalize the development and implementation of the subcontractor Management policy
- Act as Subcontractor Management Policy focal POC
- Formalize Contract Cheat Sheet upon execution to hand over to Management for quick reference.
- Support Category Team in managing Contracts through contract lifecycle
- Facilitate operational kick off meetings to ensure that information developed for subcontracts or contract cheat sheet are reviewed and understood by operations team.
- Coordinate with Stakeholders on Subcontract needs.
- Negotiate Subcontracts through execution. Including developing Work Request and Flow downs from Prime contracts.
- Collaborate with Project team to actively manage subcontractors.
- Conduct Performance review meetings with Subcontractors as needed. Including tracking performance through KPI’s and Supplier Scorecard.
- Audit contracts and rate schedule to insure commercial optimization of all contracts.
- Perform ad hoc tasks and special projects related to contracts.
- Assist in managing contracts distribution list and inbox, receiving and reviewing POs for compliance execution, and coordinating with Operations for the applicable project.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Procurement, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, or category management.
- Experience with ERP and procurement systems (D365 SAP, Oracle, Ariba, etc.) preferred.
- Very customer-service oriented, including treating fellow GIS team members with an internal client mindset.
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Strong contract and subcontract management experience
- Analytical mindset with experience in spend analysis and market research.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple departments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Willing to travel - limited
