What To Expect

Heron Power is a startup company building cutting-edge power electronics for the 21st-century grid. We aim to debottleneck the growth of electricity generation and consumption with scalable, innovative, and less costly hardware solutions, accelerating the electrification of everything.

Our first goal is to build better converters (inverters & rectifiers) to connect large-scale renewables, storage, and loads to the grid. Heron Power’s leadership team is made up of seasoned veterans who have designed and shipped gigawatts of power conversion products over the past decade.

We understand that no one individual knows everything. We will all learn a lot together and from each other. We strive to build a collaborative, enriching environment conducive to personal, technical, and career growth. You can expect to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, driven by first principles engineering, solving difficult problems.

Job Overview

Heron Power is transforming the infrastructure that powers our grid by developing industrial power electronics purpose-built for the 21st-century grid. The energy demand crisis is here and we’re building the answer.

Heron was founded in 2024 by Drew Baglino, the former Tesla executive who led the engineering behind the Model S drivetrain, the Model 3’s silicon carbide bet, and the buildout of the Tesla Energy Megapack. He started Heron Power because he believes that we now need the same concentration of focus, urgency, and scale that transformed electric transportation directed at the infrastructure that powers everything else. The company recently closed a $140M Series B and is gaining commercial momentum, and is at the critical moment where the story needs to be told credibly, consistently, and compellingly.

This first dedicated communications and marketing hire has the opportunity to not only define and position Heron in the public eye, but to be on the cutting edge of defining the burgeoning energy industry. This person is not inheriting a playbook, but writing it. The job is to build the narrative engine that turns Heron’s technical depth and commercial momentum into a story that establishes the brand, positions the company within the industry, and earns trust with customers, partners, and the market.

How You Will Contribute

  • Manage Narrative Architecture: Define Heron’s voice and vocabulary that holds across every channel and audience. The blog, the customer brief, the LinkedIn post, and the press pitch should all sound like they come from the same company with the same conviction. Your job is to make sure they do.
  • Story Mine: The best content Heron can produce lives inside the heads of our employees. You’ll build the relationships and the process to extract it and turn it into content that no competitor can replicate. You also keep your finger on the pulse of industry conversations, competitor moves, and the moments where Heron should have a voice.
  • Drive the Editorial Pipeline: Own the content calendar end to end — what gets made, when it ships, how it maps to the BD calendar and company milestones.
  • Shape Channel Strategy and Distribution: Own the blog, newsletter, and LinkedIn. You have a clear point of view on what goes where and why. You test new channels, revamp existing ones, and identify opportunities to amplify Heron’s story at the right moments.
  • Leverage Earned Media: Build relationships with the journalists and publications that matter in energy, infrastructure, and climate tech. Place stories proactively. Manage inbound press. Position Heron’s leadership as credible voices in the conversations shaping this industry.

What You Will Bring

You are an intellectually curious, creative storyteller and problem solver. You love making the complex simple and the abstract resonate. You thrive in the fast pace of a startup, able to build from scratch, think big, start small, and deliver. You’re comfortable being the only person in the room with your expertise and you know how to make engineers, founders, and operators trust your judgment. You’re a builder who lives at the intersection of strategy and execution and doesn’t wait to be told what matters.

Must Have Requirements

  • 7–10 years in B2B communications, content strategy, or technical marketing, ideally in energy, climate tech, deep tech, or infrastructure. You know the difference between what an investor needs to hear and what a customer needs to understand.
  • Strong writing at the center of everything you do. You can write the technical explainer, the customer brief, and the newsletter.
  • A track record of delivering communications initiatives with measurable outcomes.
  • Fluency with AI tools. You use them to extend your output and operate at the capacity of a larger team. Your strategic judgment is your own.

What Success Looks Like

By the end of year one: Heron has a clear, consistent voice in the market. Our content pipeline is running. The right journalists know who we are. Customers and partners encounter the same coherent story across every touchpoint. And the founding team has a trusted partner who makes them sharper and more visible.

If you are passionate about technology and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you. Join us in accelerating the electrification of everything at Heron Power.

Heron Power provides competitive compensation (salary and equity) and benefits. The salary for this role ranges from $140,000 to $200,000 per year.
