Who Are We Looking For?
GHD is seeking an Air & Climate Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) to join our Western Canada Air, Noise & Compliance team based in Vancouver, BC. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to build technical consulting experience in air quality, climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, regulatory compliance, and environmental approvals while working alongside experienced professionals across Western Canada and GHD’s broader North American network.
The successful candidate will support project delivery, technical analysis, reporting, regulatory review, field work, and client-focused solutions for industrial, municipal, energy, infrastructure, and development projects. This role is suited to someone who is curious, detail-oriented, collaborative, and motivated to grow their career in environmental consulting.

The salary range for this position is $77,500 to $129,250. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location. Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position will see you involved in:
- Supporting air quality, climate change, greenhouse gas, and regulatory compliance projects across British Columbia and Western Canada.
- Assisting with air quality compliance reporting, emissions inventories, greenhouse gas quantification, climate-related assessments, and regulatory submissions.
- Supporting air quality impact assessments for environmental approvals, permits, and project development applications.
- Assisting with atmospheric dispersion modelling, data management, calculations, technical reviews, and preparation of figures, tables, and supporting documentation.
- Conducting research and interpreting relevant provincial and federal environmental regulations, standards, guidance documents, and permitting requirements.
- Supporting ambient air quality monitoring, odour assessments, field investigations, site visits, and contractor coordination as required.
- Preparing technical memoranda, reports, proposals, work plans, and client deliverables for review by senior staff.
- Collaborating with engineers, scientists, project managers, and technical specialists across GHD’s Air, Noise & Compliance and Sustainability teams.
- Participating in quality, health, safety, and environmental processes in accordance with GHD standards.
- Contributing to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative team culture while actively developing technical and consulting skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Registered as an Engineer-in-Training, or eligible to register as an E.I.T. with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).
- Relevant co-op, internship, academic, or early-career experience in air quality, climate change, environmental consulting, emissions reporting, regulatory compliance, or related environmental engineering work.
- Interest in air quality modelling, greenhouse gas emissions, decarbonization, climate resilience, and environmental approvals.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; experience with data analysis, GIS, AERMOD, CALPUFF, emissions calculations, or environmental databases is considered an asset.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to organize technical information clearly and accurately.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work collaboratively in a team environment, and take initiative in learning new technical areas.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel for field work or client/project requirements, as needed.
