Green Taxonomy Expert
Key Responsibilities / Tasks
- Lead the assessment of national climate finance frameworks, policies, and regulations relevant to sustainable finance taxonomy development.
- Review international green taxonomy frameworks and standards (e.g., European Union Taxonomy, International Platform on Sustainable Finance Common Ground Taxonomy, Climate Bonds Initiative).
- Identify climate mitigation and adaptation activities suitable for inclusion in the national taxonomy.
- Define climate-related technical screening criteria and eligibility thresholds for economic activities.
- Assess alignment of the taxonomy with national climate commitments, including United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change commitments, NDCs, and long-term climate strategies.
- Map climate finance flows and investment needs across priority sectors such as energy, agriculture, forestry, transport, water, waste management, and industry.
- Support the development of sector-specific climate eligibility criteria and performance indicators.
- Assess the climate and environmental integrity of proposed taxonomy activities.
- Analyze climate risks, transition risks, and physical climate risks relevant to the taxonomy framework.
- Master's degree or PhD in Climate Finance, Environmental Economics, Sustainable Finance, Finance, Economics, Environmental Engineering, Climate Policy, or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in climate finance, sustainable finance, green investment, or environmental policy.
- Demonstrated experience with green taxonomy development, sustainable finance frameworks, or ESG-related initiatives.
- Strong understanding of climate finance mechanisms, including the Green Climate Fund, Adaptation Fund, multilateral development banks, and private climate finance instruments.
