For an experienced Project Manager, this offers considerably broader exposure than a comparable role in a traditional construction environment, alongside the technical grounding that underpins long-term career value in the energy sector.



Working Environment & Projects

You will take delivery ownership of major renewable energy and energy infrastructure projects, working across technologies that may include utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems, onshore wind and associated grid and substation infrastructure. Projects vary considerably in scale and technology mix, and most Senior Project Managers here handle either a single large scheme or a small portfolio of concurrent developments depending on stage and complexity.


The work spans the full delivery lifecycle. You will pick projects up through the development and pre-construction phases — contributing to design freeze, procurement strategy, contractor selection and programme development — then carry them through construction, testing, commissioning, grid energisation and handover to operations. This end-to-end involvement is one of the defining characteristics of renewables delivery and a significant differentiator on any CV.


You will operate at the centre of a genuinely multidisciplinary environment, coordinating EPC and specialist contractors alongside internal development, grid connection, commercial, environmental and HSQE functions. External stakeholder management is a substantial element of the role, involving grid operators, planning and regulatory bodies, landowners, local communities and investment partners.


Working culture is fast-paced, technically demanding and outcome-focused, with delivery milestones frequently tied to grid connection dates, planning conditions and route-to-market obligations. Field-based time on project sites is balanced with office and remote working, and most of these businesses operate genuine flexibility around how and where delivery work is carried out.



Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of major renewable energy and energy infrastructure projects from pre-construction through to commissioning, energisation and handover
  • Own project programmes, budgets and resourcing, driving early identification and mitigation of schedule and cost risk
  • Manage EPC and specialist contractors throughout procurement, mobilisation, construction and close-out
  • Coordinate closely with internal development, grid connection, commercial, environmental and HSQE teams
  • Manage grid connection delivery obligations and interfaces with system operators and network stakeholders
  • Administer contracts, variations, claims and reporting, working alongside commercial and legal colleagues
  • Maintain relationships with planning authorities, regulators, landowners, local communities and investment partners
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, environmental, planning and regulatory requirements across all works
  • Report on progress, risk, expenditure and forecast to senior management, investors and project boards



What You Need

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager delivering renewable energy, grid infrastructure or major energy projects
  • Background across one or more of solar, battery energy storage, onshore wind, substation or transmission and distribution infrastructure
  • Strong programme management capability, with a track record of delivering to fixed milestone and energisation dates
  • Solid commercial awareness, including contract administration, procurement and budget ownership
  • Demonstrable contractor management experience across EPC or specialist subcontract delivery models
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills across technical, regulatory, community and investor audiences
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Energy or a related discipline preferred
  • Familiarity with the Irish grid connection process or NEC and FIDIC contract forms is beneficial but not essential
