GE Vernova Advanced Research – (Materials Chemistry and Physics) Fellow Internship

  • As a Summer Intern in the Materials Chemistry and Physics, you will have the opportunity to develop next generation electrical and thermal insulation materials, high voltage devices, transformer, generators, for the clean power generation and storage, energy conversion technologies. Assignments are typically for 12-14 weeks; working side by side with experts in the field of materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering or electrical engineer, completing challenging technical projects, applying theoretical knowledge to real-life technical problems, and developing skills in a cutting edge global industrial research environment. This program includes seminars on cross-center technology and soft skills development as well as opportunities for networking and showcasing project accomplishments. Roles and Responsibilities

  • Work with industry leading experts to execute design, analysis, and validation high voltage devices, working with high voltage dielectric and or thermal insulation materials, familiar with synthesis, processing and testing, materials including, liquid, gel, oil, epoxy resins, gases, polymer, etc.
  • Strong background in chemistry, electrochemistry, materials science, electrical materials
  • Collaborate with engineers and scientists from across the Vernova Advanced Research Center and business segments, to advance the energy transition.

Required Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a full-time Ph.D. degree program in materials science, chemistry, electrochemistry, electrical engineering, or related disciplines at an ABET accredited university.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

  • Minimum GPA 4.0 / 5.0 scale.

The pay for this position ranges from $1,000-2,000 weekly based on years of graduate field of study completed

This Position Is Also Eligible For

  • Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
  • Housing Allowance: Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
