In this position, you have the opportunity to contribute both as member of SCADA team and project team by preparing specifications and configurations for our products and solutions and integrating communicating systems to our products. As a substation automation focused project engineer, you will be responsible for designing substation communication networks, including SCADA & HMI systems

Key Individual Accountabilities:

  • Design, configure and develop HMI & SCADA applications and ethernet networks
  • Plan, Specify, Organize and participate testing
  • Participate in technical negotiations with end customers and other stakeholders
  • Support equipment sourcing (technical inputs, equipment evaluation)
  • Produce high quality documents and specifications
  • Contribute sales and R&D activities
  • Participate in FACTS equipment commissioning

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology/ Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge in Ethernet network configurations
  • Knowledge of substation communication protocols (eg. IEC61850, DNP3, IEC60870-5-104) is a benefit
  • Knowledge of HMI, UI design or cyber security is a benefit
  • Analytic thinking required to solve problems with ability to use multiple sources to arrive at decisions
  • Fluent written and oral skills in English; Finnish and other languages are benefit
  • Willingness to travel

Our GE Center of Excellence in Tampere delivers reactive power compensators such as Static Synchronous Compensators (STATCOM) and Static Var Compensators (SVC).
