The Control Application Engineer Intern will work in the Control and Protections Systems Department within the HVDC unit of GE Vernova to support the design and implementation of HVDC Control and Protection Systems to meet the demands of the grid and renewable energy market. Role overview
Based at the HVDC Centre of Excellence in Stafford, UK, the role gives an excellent opportunity for a motivated candidate to innovate, expand their engineering skills and personal development within an internationally recognised company in the renewables and grid sectors. The successful candidate will be part of a cohort of interns working within a 12-month development plan that allows them to stretch outside of their core academic background that prepares them for successful careers.
Responsibilities:
Work as part of an expert team on control and protection systems; in particular, power electronics systems and grid technology
Execute engineering analysis, simulation, test and integration to meet business needs
PSSE/PSCAD and PSSE/RSCAD Power system network conversion, modelling and verification.
Plant modelling of HVDC System in various simulation tools (MATLAB, RSCAD, PSCAD etc) and its verification.
Support in producing required technical documentation, under the supervision of senior engineers.
The Person:
The candidate will have completed 2 years of degree level in a related science such as Electrical Engineering, or equivalent knowledge or experience. However, this is not as important as a proven track record and evidence that you have the mind-set and abilities to perform the role.
Needs to be eligible to work in the UK.
