Job Description Summary
GE - Renewable Energy would like to recruit a Control System Field Service Engineer to work n our Grid Solutions business. Reporting directly to the UK Service Leader, the Control System Service Engineer will be a key member of the operations team, providing engineering validation support, you will conduct field service activities at customer sites and lead maintenance service activities covering GE control systems installed base at onshore and offshore substations. In this role the suitable candidate is expected to work with defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.Job Description
Essential Responsibilities:
- Perform control system validation and factory acceptance test (FAT).
- Perform commissioning of substation control system (SCADA, HMI, auxiliary systems, communication network, firewall, cyber security) at customer sites onshore and offshore.
- Lead maintenance services with customers including first line fault diagnostics of Systems and clear failures of control systems installed at customer substations onshore and offshore. When on call the engineer has to be available over out of office hours, weekends and bank holidays to support the customers on first line telephonic support and if required to visit customer substations onshore and offshore to clear the fault.
- Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, repair and maintenance at customer's sites. Ensure full reports are generated to the end-Customer.
- Support control system engineering tasks including but not limited to control systems database configurations, upgrades / modifications, communication network configurations, firewall & cyber security configurations and testing the control system configuration on mirror platforms.
- Manage Fault reports & customer complaints in line with defined procedures.
- Coordinate with CoE and others for Products & systems obsolescence management.
- To gain knowledge of new products and systems. Develop and further expand technical knowledge and expertise, currently recognised industry standards for engineering ability.
- Obtain & Maintain GE / Customer Competent Person Authorisation. To ensure that all-relevant safety documentation and site competency certificates are up to date and inform services Leader of impending renewals.
- To Apply the company’s health and safety responsibilities to the work at site and at the platform. Ensure RAMS produced and reviewed internally and externally.
- Provide, audit, and implement quality control requirements for on-site activities.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to travel to customer sites locally and globally. (Around 160 days/year)
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Experience in Substation Automation Systems, working on technical support, testing, maintenance, commissioning in transmission, distribution, industrial and power plants environments.
- Experience with electrical Protection relays and Control systems (LV, MV & HV).
- Experience in Networking, communication Protocols and OT Cyber security aspects.
Desired Characteristics:
- BSc in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) with project/service related experience.
- Control systems Commissioning Engineer with experience in substations ranging from 11kV to 400kV
- Knowledge on Automation, Electrical Control Systems and SCADA/DCS systems.
- Experience in substation automation systems, SPACE2000, PACiS, DS Agile & Zenon knowledge preferred.
