Lead Field Service Engineer duties include, but are not limited to: travel to customer sites primarily located in the United States and Canada, and may include international travel to US government approved locations where GE conducts business; installation of radio equipment (climbing of towers or electrical work is not in scope); inspecting and installing equipment and new technologies; directing crews or workers onsite; troubleshooting with real-time analysis and resolution; report writing for customer approval; and EDX RF system design.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline as it pertains to GEMDS RF equipment as well as L3 Networking at the Cisco CCNA Level.
  • Work independently as well as with direction to include Statement and Scope of Work projects.
  • Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
  • A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members

Required Qualifications

  • AAS in Sciences from an accredited university or college (OR a high school diploma / GED with at least 10 years of relevant Field Services experience)
  • Ability and willingness to travel ~ 40%(or better) of the time

Desired Characteristics:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to document, plan, and execute field work.
  • CCNA (Active) desired.
