Job Description Summary
The Next-Gen Substation Automation Controllers Product Manager drives the overall business strategy for the G500/G100, GPG, and legacy controller products in GE Vernova’s Grid Automation business portfolio. You will be responsible for the full product life cycle, from the market analysis until the end of life of a product, for the development and the performance of the products, and for understanding the market trends and the customer requirements. The Product Manager will also be responsible for defining the specifications and the business case, ensuring the development of the necessary functionalities, on time, at the right cost, and supporting the product through its entire life.The product manager role works closely with Grid Automation customers, commercial, R&D, industrialization, and technical support teams, to ensure the development of the products and to deliver the expected return on investment.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Develops and manages the product roadmap with inputs from offer management, sales, engineering, and customer success along with customer requests and commitments as well as other industry trends
- Develops, maintains, refreshes, and communicates the prioritization of the product roadmap
- Leads the Voice of Customer activities for core and new markets, accumulate market knowledge of key targeted sub-segments, identify attractive Use Cases with critical customer values and related competitive offerings
- Ensures alignment and coordination of product roadmap with emerging industry themes and concepts (cybersecurity, digitalization, artificial intelligence/machine learning)
- Coordinates between sales and R&D on development schedules and needs to ensure customer commitments are delivered
- Responsible for the development and the performance of the product line; understanding the market trends and the customer requirements, defining the specifications and the business case, ensuring the development of the necessary functionalities, on time, at the right cost, and supporting the product through its entire life
- Develops Product Requirements Document and associated business cases to support introduction, completion, and launch of new NPI programs
- Manages the Product Launch of new products, modules, and releases into the marketplace.
- Supports development of marketing collaterals working with technical writing team for brochure, press release, advertising, tradeshow, and customer testimonial content.
- Develop and execute a portfolio strategy, including hardware and software product lifecycle management, multigenerational product plans, market segmentation & positioning, go to market strategy and pricing to acquire new customers and grow the installed base
- Engage with R&D to ensure consistency of technical solutions versus requirements
- Define and track execution roadmap with close collaboration with R&D and specify product life-cycle
- Get the prioritized product/solution propositions adopted into the R&D development plan within the required time
- Define product requirements for engineering execution and assess product development priorities
- Create an impactful product/solution by analyzing and assembling the business case and by offering matching with customer needs by working jointly with SDSUs/Regional teams
- Define clearly product requirements and attend all project milestone reviews to ensure the matching between product requirement and product development
- Ensure each milestone of the product creation process is completed with all technical and market/commercial data. Organize the gate reviews and ensure action follow-up
- Anticipate roadblocks and ensure de-risking and proper concepts/options are explored
- Identify competition and new product features versus market needs
- Establish World-Class Product Management practices, with full segmentation and product positioning
- Communicate on the value proposition and offering to GA Regions and GA Management
- Ensure quarterly review to map regional need and update sales and operations team on SA new features and products
- Oversee the full chain documentation and highlight product new features and customer benefits
- Build internal and external production promotion material to support the regions during sales prospecting activity
- Managing the internal roll-out of the product, so the business is ready to start selling, being the PM the most experienced first user.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering discipline or Business from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 7-years experience in the technologies and applications in substation automation
- Ability and willingness and ability to travel 25% of the time.
Desired Characteristics:
- English (written/spoken) is mandatory for the position.
- Good knowledge of Power System and Substation Control & Protection Applications for the electric utility segment
- Deep knowledge of Substation Gateways, RTUs, Controllers, HMI/SCADA interfaces, other multi-function platforms (on-premise/virtual) for running real-time grid applications for monitoring, protection, and control, grid virtualization, containers, real/non-realtime applications, cloud enablement architectures.
- Utility and Industry Grid Automation markets knowledge
- Familiarity with computer technology, cyber security, and communication protocols as IEC61850, IEC 103, Modbus, DNP3.0, TCP/IP, Ethernet
- Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills, customer focused, enthusiastic
- Master’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering. Power Systems experience preferred. Or Master's in Business Administration, MBA, with a focus in marketing or strategy.
- Significant experience in electric utility industry related sales, or R&D, or marketing or product management.
- Demonstrated strategic awareness combined with tactical implementation capability. Strong analytical skills with ability to identify and explain critical issues.
- Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously within stringent time constraints, requires discretion and independent judgment, and the ability to maintain a good working relationship with all co-workers, stakeholders and clients
- Ability to work effectively cross functions and regions
The salary range for this position is [ 142,200.00 - 189,600.00 - 237,100.00 USD Annual]The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for [a performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity *15 %*].
