Job Description
This role is a global design engineering role where the scope of the team includes mechanical internal sub-systems and components for GE offshore wind turbines within the Nacelle.
In this job, you will cover from conceptual design and functional specification to testing, validation of the different mechanical systems of GE offshore wind turbines. You will deliver engineering designs/requirements, execute business critical New Product Introductions, drive cost competitiveness, and ensure world class subsystem performance of the Haliade-X platform. You will work together with Supply Chain, EHS, Operations relevant stakeholders among others, to deliver the best solution from a whole value chain perspective.
Scope will include rear frame supporting structures, electrical component mechanical integration, helihoist and internals/auxiliaries (platforms, crane, enclosures, piping).
Responsibilities include:
Full ownership and accountability for design, development, testing and certification of appointed sub-system.
Ensure quality of deliverables, on time delivery, design cost, DFMEA, EHS, performance, availability, weight, and general targets defined by the business related to the sub-system.
Ensure sub-system full integrated solution, by analyzing all mechanical and electrical/control interfaces.
Ensure proper design reviews and documentation quality according to GE instructions and defined project gates.
Drive changes across the Engineering change management system.
Perform Engineering Excellence and provide innovative design solutions to deliver world class quality.
Lead functionally the product definition engineers to provide all design documentation (specifications, 3D models, drawings, O&M manuals, Test plans…)
Identify and execute cost saving ideas and strategies
Support manufacturing, sourcing and field support with issue resolution and quick corrective actions for design related causes
Drive quick, complete technical root cause analysis of field failures and identify design related corrective actions to prevent recurrence
Qualifications:
Master's Degree in an Engineering or related discipline. Preferably mechanical.
Minimum 5 years proven technology and/or product management experience.
Fluent in English (spoken and written).
Very strong engineering experience in Design/Product Development in the field of mechanical design
Fluent in English, written and spoken
Experience/knowledge in main recognized design codes, guidelines and standards like IEC, GL, ISO, OSHA and EN
Experience in fatigue analysis, structural dynamics, and experimental validation
Knowledge of different manufacturing processes used in structures.
Good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
Technical drawing and design interpretation knowledge
Ability to work with global team members across cultural boundaries
Desired Characteristics:
Wind industry expertise with proven results developing & implementing technology programs.
Wind turbine Machine Head and related component technical and business expertise.
Knowledge of Standards and Design Codes. GD&T.
Expertise in NX and Ansys.
Knowledge of calculation methods related to the strength of materials, finite element simulation, metallurgy and welding processes are added values for the job.
Demonstrated system-thinking: ability to assess tradeoffs, effectively assess risk, and optimize results
Business acumen and customer focus.
Demonstrated ability to work horizontally across stakeholders to influence outcomes.
