The Role:

The Business Development function within Gas Networks Ireland is responsible for driving GNI’s decarbonisation, growth and market development strategy across all energy sectors. The Customer Acquisition Team within this function is responsible for developing new growth opportunities across the Transport, Small & Medium Enterprise (SME) and Residential sectors and brings together the capabilities and focus to develop growth related business cases in these sectors while also exploring new funding opportunities, target markets and revenue streams for the organisation.


Reporting to the National Customer Acquisition Manager, the New Business Development Analyst will be responsible for supporting the delivery of GNI’s Renewable Gas in Transport (RGT) strategy, assisting with the development and delivery of the Mature Domestic and SME strategies, identifying and developing new revenue streams for GNI, supporting customer decarbonisation journeys and for researching and developing business cases with respect to external funding and partnership models.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive, coordinate and monitor the delivery of the Renewable Gas in Transport and Mature Domestic/SME sales strategies to ensure commercial outputs achieved;
  • Monitor national and European policy developments related to biomethane, transport, energy, renewables, climate change, environment, transport and heat.
  • Participate in Growth projects providing commercial and financial expertise;
  • Maintain up-to-date technical and commercial information on the Renewable Gas Supply chain with regards to international best practice;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and customers;
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on market development and strategy progress;
  • Support the delivery of the goals of the Customer Acquisition Team and overall Business Development team.
  • Ensure value for money is achieved at all levels of Renewable Gas in Transport and Mature Domestic/SME sectors including monitoring and reporting on associated Opex costs;
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant third-level qualification together with a minimum of 3-5 years of business analysis experience.
  • Proven ability to create, develop and maintain strategic working relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals, coupled with the ability to gain commitment from others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven track record of dealing with complex issues, proactively and in a timely fashion, along with the ability to communicate complex information to others.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems, propose and implement solutions.
  • Making and taking appropriate decisions.
  • Have a commercial mind-set and execute work across multiple teams maintaining a strong commercial focus.
  • Must be flexible with a positive attitude to change.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to developing new skills in self and others and a track record of getting results through others.
