The Mission: At the Future Climate Collective (FCC), we are shaping the next generation of climate-ready leaders. Based in Portland, we build "living laboratories" in local schools where students lead real-world climate projects. We aren't just teaching kids about the planet—we’re helping them save it.

The Role: As our volunteer Director of Communications and Community Engagement, you are the bridge between our mission and the world. You’ll lead a creative team to ensure our "how-to" guides for climate action reach teachers, students, and partners globally.

Your Impact

  • Shape the Story: You’ll be the architect of our public voice, turning complex climate data into inspiring stories that show donors and grant-makers exactly how we’re making a difference.
  • Build the Brand: Elevate our presence online and in person, from managing our social media and website to representing us at major events like PNW Climate Week.
  • Grow the Movement: You’ll design the "pathway" that turns curious neighbors into active volunteers and student leaders.
  • Connect with the City: Work with our leadership to make sure student projects align with Portland’s local Climate Action Plans and city policy.

Who You Are:

  • A Natural Storyteller: You can take technical info and turn it into jargon-free, empowering content.
  • A Collaborative Leader: You’re comfortable leading a team using modern tools like Slack and Google Workspace.
  • Equity-Focused: You are passionate about making sure climate literacy reaches every school, especially those in high-need areas.
  • Action-Oriented: You want to help Portland become the global blueprint for student-led climate action.

Why Join Us?

This is a high-visibility leadership role. You’ll work alongside engineers, scientists, and policymakers to move the needle from "climate doom" to measurable local change. If you’re ready to help students take the lead, we want to hear from you.
