? About Furbnow
Furbnow is the common-sense approach to home energy renovation. We help UK homeowners plan and deliver whole-house energy improvements, done properly and in the right order, so they end up with a warmer home, lower bills and lower carbon emissions.
The retrofit market is fragmented. Homeowners get conflicting advice from architects, builders and installers, and many end up doing nothing or doing the wrong thing first. They want impartial advice and clear information on what will work for their home, how to stage the work to fit their budget, and who they can trust to do it.
We come in to survey, design and introduce our customers to installers to make sure they get the right work done to their home, decarbonising their home and renovating in one.
More detail on Furbnow can be found on our website.
Furbnow helps homeowners with:
- ? The BuildPack: a professional technical design and specification that coordinates insulation, heating and ventilation for their home, so they can get confident quotes and move forward
- ? Independent expertise: qualified Retrofit Coordinators who sit on the homeowner's side, with no installer bias
- ? A proven approach: 1,000+ retrofit projects delivered across England and Wales, and multi-year local authority contracts
- ?Vetted installer network: we closely manage our installer network so our customers have a verified route to get the work done
? Mission + Vision
We believe Furbnow can transform the retrofit and energy efficiency industry and improve the homes of millions in the UK. Our mission is to make every home warm, affordable to run and ready for low-carbon heating. We believe nobody should have to gamble on their own home, and our vision is to be the go-to place for homeowners starting their retrofit journey. We do this by not shying away from the hard bit - the design and setting up installation for success so the work can be done right, first time. We don’t give advice, we get it done.
? About the role
Joining Furbnow as our first Sales Consultant is a rare opportunity to have a real impact on the Net Zero agenda by helping homeowners make confident decisions about their homes.
You'll work alongside our Sales Manager and be the first hire into the sales team as we scale it from one person to five by mid 2027. We have a strong marketing presence bringing in qualified homeowner leads than we can handle, and we need you to help turn them into BuildPack customers that will retrofit their homes.
This is a consultative role, not a pushy one. Our customers aren't buying a report; they're buying confidence. They worry about wasting money on the wrong measures, being taken advantage of by contractors, and not knowing what to do first. Your job is to understand their home and plans, explain clearly how a BuildPack helps, and give them space to make a good decision. Because you're joining early, you'll also help shape how we sell.
You will also receive Retrofit Advisor training to build your technical knowledge, with a certification on completion.
✔️ What your new job will be
? Homeowner conversations
- Run discovery calls with inbound leads from our ads, guides, partners and referrals (e.g. mortgage brokers, architects, local authority schemes)
- Understand each homeowner's property, renovation plans, budget and timeline, and qualify whether a BuildPack is right for them
- Explain the BuildPack and our whole-house approach in plain English, and bring in a Retrofit Coordinator for technical questions when needed
- Handle common concerns, such as price, partner sign-off and uncertainty about value, with honesty and patience
? Converting and following up
- Close BuildPack and planning sales and hand customers smoothly to our survey and delivery team
- Send timely, personal follow-up emails after calls and nurture leads who aren't ready yet
- Keep HubSpot accurate and up to date: every call, stage change and next step
? Building the sales team
- Work with the Sales Manager on call scripts, objection handling, follow-up templates and the sales playbook
- Feed back what you hear from customers to the Growth and Product teams
- Test new approaches, share what works and help onboard future consultants
- Attend sales events (for example the Homebuilding and Renovation Show) with the wider team
? We are looking for a consultative sales professional based in Birmingham or remotely
You don't need to be a retrofit expert on day one but having knowledge from retrofit, renewables or domestic construction would be valuable. We'll teach you the technical side. What matters most is that people trust you on the phone.
- Trusted adviser. 2+ years in consultative sales, ideally with considered purchases (e.g. home improvement, solar, home energy, property or financial services). You hit targets without pressure selling.
- Great communicator. Warm and clear on the phone and by email. You can explain something complex simply and listen more than you talk.
- Highly organised. You manage a busy pipeline, follow up on time and keep the CRM tidy.
- Growth mindset. Joining our sales team is as much about hitting the targets as it is about working to find new and better ways to get there with your team.
- Passion! Our goal is nothing less than to transform people's homes. Genuine interest in homes, energy or climate action is a must.
- Light-speed learner. The company grows and evolves every day, and so will your role.
- Okay with making mistakes. We're all learning. Making mistakes is part of the journey; dwelling on them is not.
Nice to have: experience in retrofit, construction or energy efficiency; HubSpot; working in an early-stage or fast-growing business.
