Data Scientist
We want as many buildings as possible to undergo energy‑efficient renovation. To achieve this, we combine energy expertise with digital innovation. Now is the time to act to combat the climate crisis.
Buildings are responsible for a large share of global CO₂ emissions. For Germany to meet its climate targets, the building stock must be comprehensively renovated. We support large property owners, portfolio managers, and housing administrations as well as private homeowners with tailored renovation concepts, optimal guidance on available subsidies, and hands‑on project support.
Become part of our Team in Berlin as Data Scientist (m/f/x)
YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
- Data Processing & Curation – Build clean, reliable datasets from internal and public sources to support energy simulations, including building geometry, simulation outputs, and regulatory data.
- Algorithm Development – Develop, tune, and maintain algorithms that improve the quality and efficiency of our energy consulting solutions through feature engineering, hyperparameter tuning, and close collaboration with energy experts.
- Benchmarking – Assess and benchmark the performance of algorithms against baselines using defined KPIs, statistical validation, and real-world energy data, applying tools such as MLflow for experiment tracking and model versioning.
- RAG System Development – Design, build, and optimize retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines using LLMs, vector databases, and modern embedding techniques to enable intelligent querying of energy and regulatory documents.
- Applied Innovation – Identify practical ML/AI improvements to existing products and workflows. This is an application-driven role focused on prototyping, validation, and productionization rather than open-ended research.
- Cross-functional Communication – Communicate complex AI/ML concepts and results to product, tech, and energy experts, translating technical insights into clear business impact and leading technical demos when needed.
YOUR PROFILE
- Studies & Professional Experience – Degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, or a related field, with at least 3 years of professional experience in data science.
- Technical Expertise – Strong Python skills and understanding of common machine learning algorithms, cloud computing and the data science software stack.
- Ingenuity – Creative and innovative problem solver who enjoys tackling complex challenges.
- Mindset & Collaboration – Self-organised, proactive and confident; able to work independently while thriving in collaborative environments.
- Language – Fluent in English and German.
BONUS POINTS
- Computational Geometry – Experience with geospatial 3D datasets and computational geometry.
- Energetic Simulations – Understand the physics of energy losses in buildings and experience with numerical simulations of energy efficiency.
- RAG Pipeline Development – Experience building and optimizing RAG systems, including vector database integration, embedding model evaluation, and query-document matching algorithms.
FUCHS & EULE
- We take our responsibility for a green future seriously and aim to make a significant contribution to CO2 reduction through our commitment to energy efficiency.
- We are ambitious and constantly strive to improve. That’s why we give people the space to grow and take responsibility, and the support they need.
- We are digital, innovative, customer focused and highly motivated to achieve great things with you.
- We are a real team and support each other, speak our minds, have fun together and have a genuine desire to make a positive difference.
- We understand the importance of in-person interactions versus virtual ones, which is why we have thoughtfully designed our office in Berlin and focus on team events. At the same time, we place a high value on flexibility, allowing our team to work from home two days a week.
