Role Overview
You will lead the implementation and continuous improvement of Fremantle’s Sustainable Production Principles, turning our sustainability ambitions into practical, consistent action across productions. The Principles provide a framework for addressing the environmental and social impacts of production, including decarbonisation, energy and resource use, waste, materials, human rights, Modern Slavery, working conditions and responsible supply chains.
Working closely with production leaders, Producers, Production Managers, Heads of Department, suppliers and the wider Sustainability team, you will build understanding, capability and accountability across the production community. You will ensure that the Principles are embedded into production planning and delivery, while driving progress towards more efficient, resilient and responsible ways of working across Fremantle’s productions.
Main Objectives of the Role
- Own the implementation and embedding of the Fremantle Sustainable Production Principles across productions, ensuring they are understood, adopted and consistently applied.
- Lead the practical delivery of the Principles across all stages of production, from development and pre-production through to shoot, wrap and post-production.
- Work with production teams to identify and address material sustainability risks and opportunities, including carbon emissions, energy and temporary power, travel and transport, materials, set builds, waste, human rights, Modern Slavery, working conditions and responsible sourcing.
- Drive meaningful reductions in production emissions, working with teams and suppliers to identify practical opportunities to improve energy efficiency, reduce travel and transport impacts, increase the use of clean power and minimise material and waste impacts.
- Develop and deliver guidance, training, tools and resources that enable production teams, suppliers and Heads of Department to meet the Principles in a practical and proportionate way.
- Build sustainability capability and ownership across the production ecosystem, supporting behavioural and operational change rather than treating sustainability as a standalone compliance exercise.
- Establish effective processes for monitoring progress, capturing evidence and reporting on implementation and impact, working with the Sustainability team and relevant business systems.
- Engage with suppliers, facilities, hire houses, technology providers and industry partners to improve access to more sustainable products, services and production solutions.
- Keep the Principles under review, identifying emerging risks, best practice, regulatory developments and opportunities to strengthen Fremantle’s approach.
- Support production, commercial and business development teams to incorporate sustainability into budgets, bids, production planning and stakeholder discussions.
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Significant experience (e.g. 7-10+ years) in film, TV or content production operations, ideally across scripted and unscripted, working at a senior level (Production Manager, Line Producer, Operations), with exposure to sustainability or environmental management.
