Operations Manager - Hybrid / Flexible Location

Role Description
The Operations Manager will act as the key operational link between the Managing Director, Chief Technical Officer, senior department managers and the company’s core delivery teams, ensuring effective coordination, resource planning, consistent processes and successful execution of renewable energy consultancy assignments.
The role will support the Technical Advisory, EPC Services and Controls departments, working across Owner’s Engineering, Technical Due Diligence, EPC Management and Technical Advisory projects for wind, solar PV and BESS assets.
This is a strategic and operational leadership role, combining day-to-day coordination with continuous improvement initiatives, while also providing the flexibility to step into project delivery roles when required to support business needs.
Role Overview
The Operations Manager will oversee operational activities across multiple departments and regions, ensuring that projects are appropriately resourced, financially monitored and delivered to the highest standards.
The candidate will also be expected to provide hands-on operational support when required, including the ability to quickly support short-term resource gaps within the business. This may include temporarily acting as a Project Manager until a permanent PM resource is mobilised or recruited, supporting project reviews during periods of peak demand, or assisting delivery teams with critical operational activities.
Working closely with senior leadership, the role will support the full assignment lifecycle — from bid preparation and contract review through project mobilisation, execution, reporting and close-out.
The Operations Manager will help improve operational efficiency, identify business improvement opportunities and support the development of processes, systems and ways of working across a growing international organisation.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Oversight & Coordination:
- Acting as the operational bridge between the Managing Director, Chief Technical Officer and senior department managers.
- Supporting coordination between Technical Advisory, EPC Services and Controls teams across Europe, Latin America and Australia.
- Monitoring workload, project activity, resource availability and operational risks.
- Supporting resource allocation across departments and regions based on project requirements and team capabilities.
- Identifying short-term resource gaps and providing operational support where required, including temporary project management responsibilities or support during periods of increased project demand.
- Supporting project teams with reviews, delivery oversight and operational problem-solving when required.
- Ensuring consistent reporting processes, quality standards and working practices across teams.
- Facilitating communication and alignment between technical and operational departments.
- Supporting the preparation and coordination of bids and proposals, including scope definition, resource planning and commercial inputs.
- Coordinating contributions from multiple departments for complex multidisciplinary assignments.
- Supporting contract reviews, identifying delivery risks and ensuring appropriate project setup before mobilisation.
- Supporting project mobilisation and ensuring suitable technical and operational resources are available.
- Monitoring project execution, supporting delivery teams with escalations, resource planning and operational challenges.
- Providing temporary project management support when required until permanent project resources are established.
- Supporting project close-out activities, including lessons learned and improvement actions.
- Supporting project budgeting, profitability tracking and operational reporting in cooperation with the finance team.
- Supporting utilisation monitoring and workforce planning across departments.
- Assisting with forecasting future resource requirements based on the project pipeline.
- Reviewing commercial and contractual considerations related to project delivery.
- Supporting recruitment planning and identification of future capability requirements.
- Identifying operational strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) across the organisation.
- Developing and implementing improvement initiatives together with senior management.
- Supporting optimisation of processes, systems and internal ways of working.
- Promoting best practices and consistency as Forte Renewables continues to scale internationally.
- Supporting wider business strategy, including service development and geographic expansion.
- Engineering degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Significant professional experience in operations management, project delivery management or a similar leadership role.
- Experience working within renewable energy, engineering consultancy, EPC, infrastructure or technical services environments is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of consultancy or project-based business models, including bidding, resource planning and project economics.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams across different countries and cultures.
- Experience supporting renewable energy projects, Owner’s Engineering, Technical Advisory, EPC Management or similar technical services is an advantage.
- Ability and willingness to take an active role in project delivery when required, including temporary project management support or technical project reviews during periods of high demand.
- Good understanding of project financial management, budgeting and profitability tracking.
- Experience with contract review and commercial risk assessment is an advantage.
- Strong organisational and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of an organisation.
- Strategic mindset with a practical approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently in an international and rapidly growing environment.
- Fluent English (written and spoken). Additional European languages, particularly German or Spanish, are an advantage.
