Formative Search has partnered with an international renewable energy developer, backed by a global infrastructure investor, that is growing its Philippines platform. They are looking for a Head of Development in Manila, Philippines.


In this role, you will lead the company’s greenfield development programme in the Philippines, taking utility-scale solar and onshore wind projects from origination through to ready-to-build. You will lead and grow a capable in-country development team, and work closely with regional leadership to originate and deliver a growing pipeline.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the existing development pipeline to its established timelines, owning delivery from origination through permitting, grid connection and regulatory approvals to RTB.
  • Originate new utility-scale projects, with a focus on ground-mounted solar and onshore wind of 100 MW and above, and with hybrid battery storage opportunities.
  • Lead, develop and expand the development team, including hiring into manager-level roles, and allocate people to the tasks that best fit their strengths.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local government units, the Department of Energy, the Energy Regulatory Commission, grid stakeholders and landowners.
  • Prepare business cases and project updates to secure internal approvals, reporting to the Chief Development Officer with regular check-ins.
  • Work with land, technical, finance and legal teams to keep projects moving with pace, rigour and discipline.


Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Energy or a related field.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in the energy sector, including significant renewable energy project development in the Philippines.
  • A personal track record of taking utility-scale solar or wind projects through to RTB.
  • Established relationships with local government, regulators and grid stakeholders in the Philippines.
  • Experience leading and developing a team of developers.
  • A hands-on, delivery-focused approach, with the urgency and ownership a lean, growing platform needs.
