We’re revolutionizing energy storage with cost-effective, multi-day technology designed to keep the electric grid secure and reliable, even during extended periods of stress. By strengthening the electric system and reimagining what’s possible, we’re giving clean energy a whole new form!
In recent years, Form Energy has earned a number of accolades, including being named by TIME as a “Best Invention”, MIT Technology Review as a “Top Climate Tech Company To Watch”, and Fast Company as “One of the Next Big Things In Tech”. We are making rapid progress on our mission of delivering energy storage for a better world, and our team is growing just as rapidly to meet demand. We have signed contracts with leading electric utilities across the United States and production of our iron-air batteries is underway at our first high-volume manufacturing facility in West Virginia.
Working for Form Energy is more than just a job, it’s a chance to be part of something extraordinary. And now - right as we significantly scale up battery manufacturing - might be the most exciting moment in the company’s history to join. We are assembling a team of highly talented and driven individuals across the country. Driven by our core values of humanity, excellence, and creativity, our team is determined to deliver on our mission and transform the energy landscape for the better.
Feeling energized to make a meaningful impact on the world? Then keep reading - you’ve come to the right place.
Role Description
Form Energy is hiring an experienced Senior Electrical Engineering Technician to support Electrical Development and Test of our Battery Management System. You will own the fabrication and support of key prototypes, production hardware, and PCBA reworks. This includes soldering PCBA level components, wire harness fabrication, and panel builds for prototypes, test stands, and the product-intent design.
Other responsibilities will include redlining electrical schematics and work instructions, providing feedback to design documentation, and maintaining a neat and tidy lab space. You will need to communicate clearly and collaborate within the Test Infrastructure team and Electrical Development team, especially when reporting on observations and root cause analyses.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of scaling our multi-day energy storage systems at Form and contributing to a sustainable future.
What You'll Do
When it comes to you and your family’s health, we cover 100% of medical, dental, and vision premiums for full-time employees - and 80% of healthcare premiums for dependents. This starts from day one. We also offer at least 12 weeks of paid leave for new parents (up to 20 weeks for birthing parents), and generous vacation policies to give employees time to recharge when needed.
To build America’s energy future, we need everyone at the table. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer, and encourage candidates from all backgrounds to apply to our open jobs.
If you may require reasonable accommodations to participate in our interview process, please contact accommodations@formenergy.com. Requests for accommodations will be treated with discretion.
Form Energy is committed to maintaining the privacy of our applicants. Please be aware that we will never solicit sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers or bank account details during the recruiting or hiring process.

What You'll Do
- Execute intricate soldering reworks and modifications on PCBA components to ensure quality and functionality
- Support PCBA bring-up, evaluation, rework, and failure analysis during the design process
- Fabricate, assemble, and test complex wire harnesses and cable assemblies for prototype and production electrical systems, ensuring adherence to schematic requirements and quality standards
- Own the build of custom electrical panels, working from high level specifications and draft documentation to fill in component placement, wire routing and knock-outs
- Wire electrical equipment, apply labels to terminals, wires and indicators, and provide updates or redlines to build instructions to document any changes in the as-built system
- Safely perform electrical tests, such as verifying absence of energy, ground continuity measurements, thermal measurements and torque checks
- Perform light mechanical work, including crimping, punching, drilling, bending, cutting and deburring of metal and plastic
- Place purchase requisitions for components in a bill of materials, as well as generic hardware, such as fasteners, enclosures, wire and fittings based on the application
- Occasional local travel to pilot sites to perform retrofits, reworks, tests, inspections, calibrations - with opportunities for out-of-state travel to perform these functions at other field sites
- Support other aspects of the battery system build, test and troubleshooting processes and grow as the team and product needs evolve
- 5+ years experience as a technician or in a hands-on technical role working with PCBA SMT soldering and reworks.
- Adept at using various types of equipment and materials, including soldering irons, hot air rework stations, solder paste, flux, PCBA inspection tools, de soldering tools, digital multimeters, and wire crimping and stripping tools.
- Comfortable working with bench power supplies, DAQs, oscilloscopes, and electronic loads; exposure to test and data acquisition automation is a plus.
- Familiarity with common electrical components, including contractors, fuses, ferrules, DIN power supplies, transformers and breakers.
- Keen awareness and practice of safety in the workplace, especially around high voltages and energy storage devices; experience with NFPA 70E a plus.
- Knowledge of different electrical terminations and how to robustly make them - from mechanical and compression lugs, to busbars, to wire-to-board connectors.
- Exemplary workmanship in electronics assembly, wire routing, component and cable fixturing, crimping, splicing and electromechanical rework, as well as the ability to inspect the work of others.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interpret technical designs, suggest improvements, summarize observations, and absorb information and service requirements.
