People Partner Lead (Berkeley)
Overview
Base pay range: $170,250.00/yr - $211,200.00/yr
This position reports to the Manager of People Partnership and is a high-level strategic and operational partner to our Product Engineering teams in California. The role focuses on defining and driving the people strategy for a major business unit, operating as a player-coach who provides strategic guidance and hands-on problem solving. This role requires working from our Berkeley, CA location at least 4 days per week.
What Youll Do
- Strategic Partnership: Serve as a strategic partner and coach to senior leadership, including the VP of Product Engineering. Advise on organizational design, workforce planning, and change management initiatives to support growth and future business phases.
- Execution and Problem Solving: Identify issues, challenge assumptions, and proactively lead problems to resolution. Operate autonomously with an execution mindset and high accountability for delivering on-the-ground work.
- Organizational Transformation: Lead and drive key organizational transformations, including integrating new teams, optimizing reporting structures, and aligning People strategy with business goals.
- Talent Programs: Drive talent strategies and programs (performance management, career pathing, succession planning). Partner with HR leadership to identify new program needs.
- Site and Culture Leadership: Serve as a visible site HR leader for the California workforce and coordinate with the Employee Experience Specialist to drive engagement in the California office.
- Employee Relations: Provide guidance on complex employee relations issues, ensuring fair application of policies and legal compliance; conduct and close investigations as needed.
- Data-Driven Insights: Use People data and analytics to inform strategic decisions and identify trends.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with other People Team COEs (Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Benefits & Support) to design and deliver integrated People programs.
What Youll Bring
- 9+ years of progressive HR / People Partner experience, with 3-5 years supporting product or engineering in a high-growth environment.
- Proven track record of leading organizational transformations and large-scale change initiatives.
- Strong business acumen and ability to connect People strategy to business outcomes.
- Exceptional communication and influencing skills with senior leaders.
- Resilience and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
- Deep knowledge of California and federal labor laws.
- Builders mindset with the ability to create new programs and processes from scratch.
