Renewable Energy Specialist
Forecast Energy
Hybrid Remote | Washington State
Forecast Energy is seeking a Renewable Energy Specialist to join our team. This role is designed for professionals who are excited about renewable energy, sustainability, and energy technology, and who want the flexibility and earning potential of a commission-based position without working in a traditional sales environment.
We are not a high-pressure sales organization. Our work is rooted in analysis, education, and long-term problem solving. We help homeowners, businesses, and communities make informed decisions about solar, battery storage, and microgrids based on data, site conditions, energy usage, and real-world constraints.
About Forecast Energy
Forecast Energy has been serving the Pacific Northwest since 2005 under the same ownership, delivering high quality, technically sound building and energy solutions. Today, our work is focused on designing and installing solar PV, battery storage, and microgrids across Washington State for residential, commercial, and community-based projects with focus on resilience, including:
- Grid-tied and off-grid solar PV systems
- Battery storage and whole home backup solutions
- Community solar and microgrid projects
- Ground mounted arrays and solar carports
- Smart electrical infrastructure and panel upgrades
- Grant research and writing to support renewable energy funding
Our mission is to empower people and communities with clean, resilient energy solutions through thoughtful design, transparent communication, and technical integrity.
About the Role
As a Renewable Energy Specialist, you will work with residential, commercial, and/or community based clients to evaluate energy needs, analyze site conditions, and develop well-reasoned renewable energy solutions. This role can be shaped around your strengths and interests, whether that is residential systems, commercial projects, energy storage, or grant supported work.
This is a commission-based role for individuals who value autonomy, ownership of their work, and building trusted relationships through education rather than persuasion.

- Analyze utility data, site conditions, and system performance considerations
- Develop solar, storage, and microgrid concepts grounded in technical accuracy
- Prepare clear, thoughtful proposals that educate clients on their options
- Support projects aligned with your experience and technical strengths
- Research incentives, rebates, and grant opportunities relevant to each project
- Assist with grant applications and supporting documentation when applicable

- Individuals comfortable engaging with clients in a thoughtful, professional manner
- People who enjoy analysis, problem solving, and explaining complex topics clearly

- Strong technical knowledge or background in energy systems, engineering, construction, sustainability, or related fields
- Ability to analyze data and translate it into clear, practical recommendations
- Strong communication skills with an emphasis on education and transparency
- Organized, self directed, and comfortable managing multiple projects
- Familiarity with solar PV, battery storage, or electrical systems is a plus
- Experience with grant research or writing is a plus
What We Offer

- Typical earning potential of $75,000 to $250,000 annually
- Flexibility to shape your focus area and schedule
- Support, training, and collaboration from an experienced in-house team
- Opportunities to work on complex, meaningful renewable energy projects
- A culture grounded in integrity, technical rigor, and respect for the work
