JOB PURPOSE

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement of Folti Technologies Limited’s Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), electric vehicles (EVs), charging infrastructure and mobile charging solutions.

The role combines hands-on electrical engineering, BESS operations, EV diagnostics, battery management, charger installation, commissioning, preventive maintenance, fault resolution, technical documentation and OEM coordination.

The Engineer will play a critical role in maintaining fleet availability, charging uptime, energy efficiency, electrical safety, equipment reliability and operational continuity across Folti’s EV and charging infrastructure.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

A. BESS Operations & Maintenance

  • Monitor and manage BESS systems (battery racks, BMS, PCS, EMS, HVAC, fire suppression, auxiliary systems, protection & control).
  • Track SOC, SOH, voltage, current, temperature, energy throughput, alarms and operating conditions.
  • Ensure operation within OEM-approved limits and optimize energy flows (grid, PV, BESS and EV chargers).
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance, fault diagnosis and root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain records, spare-parts inventory and ensure BESS safety and compliance with OEM and HSE standards.

B. EV Electrical Fault Diagnosis & Battery Management

  • Diagnose electrical faults (high/low voltage, DC-DC, inverter, motor controller, charger, BMS, wiring, etc.) using OEM software and diagnostic tools.
  • Monitor and analyse battery performance (SOC, SOH, voltage, temperature, charging/discharging behaviour).
  • Investigate battery-related issues (reduced range, overheating, imbalance, BMS faults, charging interruption).
  • Handle high-voltage systems safely and inspect HV components.
  • Support repairs and verify completed work before vehicles return to operations.

C. Charge Station & Mobile Charger Installation

  • Plan and execute installation of AC/DC chargers and mobile units.
  • Conduct site surveys, load calculations and electrical design.
  • Install panels, cabling, protection devices, metering and earthing systems.
  • Commission chargers, test functionality and verify communication (OCPP/EVMS).
  • Integrate with grid, PV, BESS, generators and AVR. Ensure safe and efficient operation.

D. Charging Infrastructure Operations & Maintenance

  • Maintain high availability of chargers and mobile units.
  • Inspect connectors, cables, guns and communication systems.
  • Troubleshoot faults and manage downtime records.
  • Coordinate with OEMs and suppliers for repairs and upgrades.

E. Energy Monitoring & Performance Optimisation

  • Monitor electricity consumption (grid, PV, BESS, charging).
  • Track energy supplied to vehicles and third-party charging.
  • Identify energy losses and abnormal consumption.
  • Generate monthly energy and charging performance reports.
  • Recommend charging schedules and efficiency improvements.
  • Monitor PV/BESS performance and investigate deviations.

F. OEM & Technical Supplier Management

  • Serve as technical contact for EV, BESS and charger OEMs.
  • Engage OEMs on faults, software updates, warranty and spare parts.
  • Review technical manuals, diagrams and service bulletins.
  • Participate in training and provide technical feedback.
  • Evaluate new technologies and review specifications for compatibility.

G. Spare Parts & Technical Inventory

  • Identify and manage critical electrical spare parts.
  • Set minimum and maximum stock levels.
  • Verify parts received from OEMs/suppliers and document replacements.
  • Recommend alternatives where OEM-approved.
