Connecting energy devices to the grid at Flip Energy. At Flip, our goal is affordable, reliable, clean energy for all. We believe that aggregating distributed battery storage into virtual power plants holds massive, yet largely untapped potential to achieve that vision. What stands in the way is an ecosystem fragmented at every level. Flips mission is to bring harmony and standardization to that chaos, so any battery, anywhere, can support the grid instantly.

Strong partnerships all across the value chain (manufacturers, utilities, technology providers, installers, financiers) are crucial to achieving our mission. Were looking for someone who can open doors, build relationships that matter, and help us grow Flip into a key player in the distributed energy industry. This role is ideal for someone whos excited about building from the ground up, someone who can sell vision one day and close deals the next.

What youll do

  • Spot and unlock new business opportunities
  • Build long-term relationships with partners and customers
  • Represent Flip at industry events and in conversations that shape the future of distributed energy
  • Lead strategic initiatives that help Flip scale into new markets
  • Work closely with product and operations to align growth with what partners actually need

What you bring

  • Experience in business development, partnerships, or strategy (existing industry experience and network a huge plus but not required)
  • You know how to build trust and momentum with partners
  • You communicate clearly, follow up fast, and think creatively about win-win deals
  • You thrive in ambiguity and enjoy figuring things out with a small, fast team
  • Youre motivated by impact, not titles
  • You're able to travel to events across the US once a month or so. Ideally you live by a hub for distributed energy and can also attend more informal events in the evenings

Benefits and eligibility

  • Only applicants physically present and allowed to work in the US will be considered
  • Preferred locations: SF Bay Area, NYC, Texas
  • Bonus: up to $30k/year depending on company performance
  • Equity: 0.5-5% depending on candidate (scale to be negotiated together with base pay)
  • Benefits: health and dental insurance
  • Vacation: 6 weeks
