As we scale from lab to pilot production, we are building robust, efficient, and repeatable manufacturing processes to support commercialization.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Production Intern to support Flint’s transition from research to pilot-scale manufacturing. The intern will work closely with engineers and operators to assist in production setup, process optimization, quality control, and day-to-day manufacturing activities. This is a hands-on role ideal for students interested in manufacturing, process engineering, and scaling deep-tech innovations.
Key Responsibilities
Production Support
- Assist in day-to-day production activities, including material preparation, coating, assembly, and handling of battery components
- Support the setup, operation, and maintenance of pilot-scale production equipment
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure safe and consistent production processes
Process Improvement
- Work with engineers to identify inefficiencies and support process optimization initiatives
- Assist in trials and experiments to improve yield, throughput, and product consistency
- Document process parameters and support continuous improvement efforts
Quality Control & Testing
- Conduct basic quality checks on raw materials, intermediate products, and finished cells
- Record and track production data to monitor quality and performance trends
- Assist in troubleshooting production or quality issues
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate production logs, checklists, and documentation
- Support the development and refinement of SOPs and work instructions
- Compile data and assist in reporting for internal reviews
Collaboration & Operations
- Work closely with R&D, engineering, and operations teams to ensure smooth production flow
- Adhere to workplace safety standards and proper handling of materials and equipment
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement: Polytechnic
- Background in Chemical Engineering, Electrics and Electronics Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields preferred
- Interest in manufacturing, production systems, or process engineering
- Hands-on experience (academic or internship) with equipment, fabrication, or lab work is a plus
- Basic data tracking and analysis skills (Excel or similar tools)
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and willingness to work in a hands-on environment
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
