Role Overview
As a Battery Development Scientist, you will assist in pioneering research at the cutting edge of energy storage technologies, pushing the limits of electrochemical systems to enhance performance and sustainability. Your work will directly contribute to developing next-generation battery technologies, and optimizing efficiency while ensuring environmental responsibility is at the forefront. In this role, you will collaborate with a diverse, interdisciplinary team to explore and innovate with advanced materials, chemistries, and processes that will drive the future of energy storage. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct advanced research on solid-/semi-solid-state, and next-generation battery
- chemistries.
- Design and synthesize novel electrode, electrolyte, and separator materials.
- Assemble and test coin cells, pouch cells, cylindrical cell, and custom formats.
- Perform electrochemical characterization: CV, EIS, GCD, cycle life, rate performance.
- Study interfacial chemistry, ion transport, and degradation mechanisms.
- Optimize electrolyte/cathode ratios, electrode loading, and N/P ratios.
- Analyze data to establish structure–property–performance relationships.Use
- computational modeling / machine learning for materials prediction.
- Scale lab findings into manufacturable processes and prototypes.• Benchmark against commercial Li-ion standards.
- Collaborate across teams: chemists, engineers, sustainability experts.
- Present/showcase prototype at international conferences/exhibitions/meetings.
- File patents and IP from novel discoveries.
- Ensure lab safety and compliance with ISO, UL, EU Battery Directive standards.
Qualifications
- PhD in Materials Science, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
- Proven track record of publications in battery research (Li-on battery, solid-/semi-solid-state, or
- emerging systems).
- Glovebox handling experience.
- Experience in solid/semi-solid electrolyte synthesis for Li-ion battery (preferred).
- Experience in wet-chemical synthesis.
- Hands-on experience with electrochemical cell assembly and testing.
- Familiarity with analytical techniques (XRD, SEM/TEM, XPS, Raman, ICP-MS).
- Strong background in electrochemical theory and kinetics.
- Experience with computational modeling and/or machine learning applied to
- material discovery.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
