Title: Origination Associate or Sr. Associate
Reports To: Vice President of Origination and Power Marketing
Location: Hybrid based in Denver, Boston, or New York City strongly preferred. Travel up to 25% of the time may be required.
Description: The Origination Associate will play a crucial role in supporting offtake for utility-scale battery storage projects across ISO-NE, NYISO, and PJM. This position will play a lead role in driving RFP response strategy and deliverables, and other market development efforts critical to company growth. The right candidate will work collaboratively with the finance, development, policy, and operations teams within the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead responses to energy storage RFPs by coordinating inputs from subject matter experts, driving project narratives based on customer preferences, and supporting pricing process
- Research and analyze offtake opportunities in key markets across regulatory agencies, utilities, retail suppliers, commercial and industrial customers, and wholesale power markets
- Support negotiations for offtake agreements, including identifying risks and working through creative structuring efforts
- Develop internal tracking, reporting, and delivery processes to support origination, power marketing and M&A efforts
- Lead market research to support strategy and pricing efforts including policy, economic, and financial analysis
- Build relationships with key customers, stakeholders, and policymakers to drive new offtake opportunities and support market development efforts
- Work closely with the development, operations, and finance teams to ensure proposed offtake is technically and operationally feasible and financeable
Key Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a business, sustainability, or finance related fields
- 3-5 years of experience in origination in the power industry, and a preference for 1+ years of direct energy storage experience, relevant advanced degrees may count toward experience
- Direct experience leading RFP bid submissions and supporting offtake negotiations & structuring
- Familiarity with storage offtake structures, project development, and project finance
- Understanding of energy markets, particularly ISO-NE, NYISO, and PJM
- Very strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders
- Knowledge of financial concepts and ability to understand relationship between RFP structure and financial returns
- Strong problem-solving skills, resourcefulness, and creativity
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
Compensation and Location:
- Job Type: Permanent, Full-time

- Location: Ability to work in the United States is a requirement. Prefer candidate to be based in the Boulder/ Denver, Boston, or New York City however, location of workplace is flexible provided candidate is able to travel as required.
