Project Director - Semi State
Overview
Our client is seeking to recruit a high calibre Project Director to lead the initiation, procurement and delivery of large-scale Government infrastructure programmes, including the provision of support and assistance to Government Departments and Agencies across various sectors.
This is a senior role with leadership, management and stakeholder engagement responsibilities.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellent project management, technical and contractual experience in the field of infrastructure procurement and delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading and developing a project management team delivering services to client Government Departments and Agencies.
- Engaging, at a senior level, with internal and external stakeholders (internal and external) and counterparties.
- Managing multiple programmes/projects, including assignments under the Accelerating Infrastructure Report and Action Plan mandate.
- Ensuring internal and external stakeholders are kept informed and aligned in terms of timelines, budget, risks and contingency plans for the programme.
- Developing and overseeing the execution of programme/project key performance indicators.
- Implementation of robust climate action/sustainability strategies and oversight of scheme design and planning processes to ensure the high sustainable development standards.
- Providing support and advice to Government Departments and Agencies in delivering on their wider capital investment priorities.
Qualifications
- Third level honours degree or higher, in architecture, engineering, construction, project management, quantity surveying or building related discipline.
- Relevant subject matter/leadership/programme management post graduate qualification(s) is desirable.
- Chartered membership of a relevant professional body or equivalent.
- Project management qualification is desirable.
- Knowledge of the stages, governance and approvals relating to the delivery of public infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of key issues and management strategies associated with climate change/sustainability, environmental, social and governance factors on large scale building projects.
Experience
A minimum of 15 years relevant project management experience relating to the initiation, public procurement and delivery of major building or infrastructure projects.
Management of project budgets; design, capital expenditure, operational expenditure including change control, value engineering and risk management processes.
Experience of project/programme delivery under the Government Infrastructure Guidelines and the Capital Works Management Framework.
Strategic advisory / Strategic review expertise.
Commercial negotiations and/or dispute resolution.
Experience of leading and managing in-house and external project teams.
Strong leadership and project/programme management experience at a senior level with a demonstrable record of achievement and delivery.
Demonstrable experience and understanding of the construction sector and the underlying supply chain and associated challenges.
Full clean driving licence.
