Expected Length of Internship:

  • Fall 2024 (est. September- December).
  • As an internship company, we allow flexibility to enroll in classes while working as an intern, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the essential functions of the position.

Education/Experience:

  • Must currently be enrolled in BS or higher degree in a technical discipline with relevant work experience in a manufacturing and/or research environment with related statistical analysis, data mining and technical leadership skills
  • 1+ years of relevant work experience or internship in related statistical analysis, data mining and computer language programming skills.
  • Basic statistics
  • Course work in Applied Statistics is preferred
  • First Solar encourages all interns to register their internship with their university.

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Safety first mindset
  • Skills in applying analytical tools to large data sets and communicating the results in a concise manner.
  • Skills with MS Office, Excel, Word, and Power Point, etc.
  • Software Engineering
  • Experience using PyTorch and/or Tensorflow Framework(s)
  • Programming Languages (at lease one is required):
    • Python
    • SAS
    • JMP Scripting Language
    • T-SQL

Basic Internship Scope (Project):

  • During your internship, you will be expected to create and document solutions requested by not only the Manufacturing Engineering Analystics Team, but also from others in the organization.
  • Develop digital assets (models, analytics, pipelines, services, reports) that support the business to achieve its goals.
    • Labelling and training of computer vision models.
    • Creating and Monitoring Analytical Solutions.
    • Developing documented code and refining best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • The role requires onsite work, however remote work is allowed as needed with prior approval.

Estimated Salary Range:

$18.00 - $24.00 hourly.

US Physical Requirements:

Project Site (non-craft) Requirements:

  • Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift.
  • Will climb stairs on an occasional basis.
  • Will lift up to 51 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
  • Will push or pull up to 27 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.
  • 20/40 vision in each eye, with or without correction, and the ability to distinguish between red, yellow and green is required.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, protective jacket or apron and arm guards).
