Head of Finance - Carbon Project Developer
FD Capital is delighted to be partnering with a fast-growing, venture-backed carbon project developer to appoint a Head of Finance. Our client supercharges nature-based carbon project developers globally, combining proprietary technology with deep sector expertise to raise the bar for quality and integrity in the carbon market. Having successfully closed a Series A round, the business is now preparing for a Series B raise as it scales its impact internationally.
This is a rare opportunity to join a mission-driven, high-growth business at an inflection point, taking full ownership of the finance function as it professionalises ahead of its next funding round.
The Role
This is a freestanding, full-time Head of Finance position — you will be the senior finance voice within the business, working closely with the CEO and leadership team. Day-to-day bookkeeping and transactional accounting are handled by an established outsourced accounting partner, so this role is focused on strategic and commercial finance rather than transaction processing.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning financial planning & analysis, budgeting, and cash flow management across a fully remote, globally distributed team
- Leading financial workstreams for the upcoming Series B fundraise, including data room preparation, investor reporting, and financial modelling
- Acting as the primary point of contact for the outsourced accounting provider, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
- Building out financial controls, processes, and KPI reporting as the business scales
- Partnering with the CEO and wider leadership team on strategic decision-making, pricing, and unit economics
- Supporting board reporting and investor relations
Qualifications
About You
- Proven experience operating as a senior finance lead (Financial Controller, Finance Director, or Head of Finance) within a venture-backed, high-growth business
- Direct experience supporting an institutional fundraise (Series A or B) is essential — you understand what investors expect from a data room and financial narrative
- Comfortable working autonomously in a freestanding role, without a large internal finance team, and confident managing an outsourced accounting relationship
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills — this role requires influence and clear communication across a globally distributed, remote-first team
- Experience within climate tech, carbon markets, or sustainability is an advantage but not essential — strong scale-up finance leadership experience matters more
- Fully remote working style, with willingness to travel to London for occasional on-site meetings (monthly/quarterly)
Job Benefits
What's on Offer
- Salary in the range of £90,000–£120,000, dependent on experience
- Fully remote working
- The opportunity to join a mission-led business at a pivotal stage of growth, with genuine influence over the finance function
