About Fair Ground Brussels

Fair Ground Brussels is a social housing cooperative. Its mission is to develop decent, affordable and sustainable housing solutions for people in precarious circumstances and to enable community organisations to access premises in Brussels.

To support the growth of its activities, Fair Ground Brussels is seeking a Project Officer to manage European projects and other initiatives as opportunities arise.

About the projects

Harmonia is a European initiative (Horizon Europe programme – New European Bauhaus Facility) aimed at helping cities assess and adapt to climate change. As part of an international consortium, Fair Ground Brussels is leading a pilot renovation project for Belgium: the transformation of Nova Casa Vesta (Forest) into affordable, sustainable and inclusive social housing.

Reno-Hope is a project run by the King Baudouin Foundation. The 2027 phase consists of a pilot project on one of our buildings (Bonnevie), aimed at implementing and documenting innovative renovation practices, with a focus on low-tech solutions.

Responsibilities

As a project manager, you will lead the Harmonia and Reno-Hope projects and apply for other calls for proposals that meet the cooperative’s development funding needs. Your responsibilities will include, in particular:

Project management

• Participating in project governance and reporting.
• Monitoring project budgets, in coordination with the Administrative and Financial Manager.
• Coordinating the preparation of technical documentation specific to the renovation project.
• Contributing to study visits and workshops as part of a consortium.
• Contributing to toolkits, recommendations and other project deliverables.

Support tasks for Fair Ground Brussels

• Identify new project opportunities (particularly European ones).
• The list of tasks mentioned above is provided for guidance only and may vary depending on the candidate.

Profile

• A master’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (architecture, urban planning, engineering, humanities), or equivalent through experience.
• An interest in affordable housing, cooperative entrepreneurship and/or the energy transition.
• Willingness to travel for assignments lasting a few days within Europe.
• Experience in managing European projects (reporting, deliverables, collaboration within a consortium).
• Fluency in English and French or Dutch. Proficiency in another European language will be considered an asset.
• Ability to work independently within a small team, with an eye for detail and a strong sense of deadlines.
• A basic understanding of the technical aspects of renovation and energy performance is an asset.

Offer

• A permanent part-time (50%) contract.
• Salary scale in accordance with collective agreement CP 319.01.
• Meal vouchers worth €8.00 per day worked.
• 20 days’ statutory leave per FTE, 2 days’ additional leave and 5 extra days from the age of 35.
