Building a Category-Defining Carbon Removal Company
F2F Systems is an early-stage climate-tech venture transforming commercial food supply chain waste - from supermarket distribution centers, packhouses, producers and growers - into biochar, enabling scalable carbon removal and circular value creation.
Current solutions for food waste and carbon removal fail at the intersection of cost, scalability and real-world deployment. F2F Systems is building the infrastructure to solve this, with the ambition to build a category-defining company in biochar and carbon removal.
We are looking for a technical co-founder (CTO) to join and build this company together.
The Technical Problem You’ll Own
The core challenge is economically viable biochar production from high-moisture, heterogeneous food waste feedstocks at scale. This requires:
• Optimising thermochemical conversion (pyrolysis / HTC) for wet feedstocks with variable moisture content
• Developing feedstock pre-treatment and drying pathways that preserve process economics
• Ensuring biochar output meets ECB / IBI certification standards for CDR credit eligibility
• Long term, we look to expand feedstocks, and own our own biochar processing facilities
The Role (First 6–12 Months)
• Work directly with existing biochar producers to test and optimise production from our wet feedstock mix
• Lead process development across materials, chemical and industrial systems
• Identify and validate scalable production pathways (build vs partner vs license)
• Support grant applications and early-stage funding efforts alongside the founder
• Develop IP strategy and initiate patent filings where appropriate
• Help develop the technical vision, roadmap and supplier / partner landscape
Who We’re Looking For
• Strong technical background (PhD focused in materials, chemical, industrial engineering, or similar)
• Experience with biochar, pyrolysis or related thermochemical processes
• Likely transitioning from academia into a commercial environment – you want to build and apply your work in a commercial setting
• Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building from scratch; you can scope and solve problems
• Motivated by ownership, climate impact, and long-term value creation
• Builder mindset. You move fast and are comfortable with early stage risk. This is not suited to someone looking for a purely research path.
Equity and Compensation
This role is designed for someone who wants to build and own a venture scale company. This is a true co-founder position with meaningful equity, and not an early employee.
• Equity will be commensurate with commitment and contribution, and is negotiable based on experience and timing of joining.
• Without salary until first fundraise close (which is the same for the founder, Georgie). The goal is to move quickly, targeting closing a pre-seed round in Q3 2026.
This is an opportunity to build a company from first principles and share meaningfully in the outcome. This requires full commitment, comfort with early stage risk, and a desire to build something from zero to scale.
