Job Role Description

Position Overview
Focus on the qualification of anode graphite material in battery cells. Collaborate with cross-regional technical teams to conduct research on material mechanisms and develop technical solutions for applications, e.g. Electrical car battery and energy storage system. Support anode graphite material performance iteration and optimization at cell/electrode level, and work with business teams to drive the commercialization of products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for leading the labs to do coin cells, pouch cells, and full cells using artificial graphite, and/or silicon-carbon, hard carbon & other anode materials. Conduct systematic evaluation for anode graphite performance, including first-cycle coulombic efficiency, capacity, compact density, swelling, charging rate, high/low temperature performance, and cycle life.
  • Conduct cell performance test and failure analysis, including root cause identification through advanced characterization and electrochemical testing lead DOE (Design of Experiments) design and performance validations.
  • Conduct qualification of anode materials in different cathode systems (LFP, NCM, etc.), and assist in the optimization of N/P ratio, electrode structure, electrolyte system, and interface stability.
  • Responsible for validating the anode materials with various electrolyte systems analyze the correlations of solvents, lithium salts, and functional additives on anode materials, resistance, cycle stability, lithium precipitation, and side reaction behaviors.
  • Knowledgeable in structure-properties relationship between anode material and the dispersion of electrode slurries, electrode coating, and calendaring processes identify processing risks and provide optimization solutions. Based on testing results, identify material-level, interface-level, and cell level technical issues, and collaborate with internal technology teams to upgrade in coating, modification, and size control on particles.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree, PHD and above in Materials Science, Electrochemistry, Chemical Engineering, New Energy Materials, or related fields.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in lithium-ion battery anode material application development, cell qualification related technologies.
  • Experienced with the electrochemical characteristics of various anode materials proficient in cell preparation, electrochemical testing, data analysis, and key performance analysis methods.
  • Strong cross-regional team collaboration skills fluent in English (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) for smooth cross-regional technical communication, meetings, and technical documentation output.
  • Prior work experience in an anode factory or battery cell maker, with participation in cell development, anode material selection and electrochemical system qualification is preferred.
